Kate Smith first performed “God Bless America” the day before Veteran’s Day in 1938. She was a patriotic American, who wanted to encourage fellow citizens as they suffered through a terrible depression and saw a world being torn apart by Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan. She wanted to reach Americans with the faith she felt for the future of the nation.
As a leading performer in a radio market reaching nearly every household in the country, her way would be through song. So, Kate asked Irving Berlin to write a song that would cause citizens to embrace a positive perception of the country. Irving said he already done what she was looking for and found a song he had written 22 years ago, but never published. He made a couple changes in the lyrics leading to a slight change and improvement in the melody. They were unsure how the song would be received but agreed to never accept any profits. The Boy Scouts of America have been the recipient of millions in royalties.
For all time “God Bless America”, causes patriotic inspirations and elicits memories of the extraordinary commitment to individual liberty this country was intended to have. From beginning to end, the song reads as a prayer directed towards petitioning for the beauty, courage, and spirit of our country to be treasured and renewed. Part way through the first performance of the song you will see Ronald Reagan who in 1986 awarded Kate the Presidential Medal of Freedom. For veterans of WW II, Korea, Cold War, Vietnam, Afghanistan, and Iraq, the song has been cherished for representing a truly meaningful expression of their service.
I saw one article about the 2024 presidential race titled, “It Wasn't an Election. It Was an Intervention - How Donald Trump rescued America from a Cult”. Kate Smith was a victim of that cult. She had to be denigrated in the ongoing effort to deform and destroy this country as founded. The vehicle chosen was the song “That's Why Darkies Were Born”, which Paul Robison and Kate Smith recorded to strike at racism by sarcastically exaggerating perceptions opposite to the realities of black humanity. A radio address in 1945 found on the “Tune In” magazine, linked to below, provides her true attitude about racial tolerance.
Morally and intellectually crippled individuals decided to ignore Kate’s character and to consider her singing the song inflicted emotional damage on them. They were able to force the Philadelphia Flyers executives, owners, and media to cover and remove her statue from the team stadium entrance. Both these self-proclaimed victims and their enablers indicated their purity by receiving effortless, addictive compassion as the drug of choice.
Creating theaters of delusion provides those seeking aristocrat status useful constituencies. Social and political initiatives in private institutions and governments offer spurious emotional and physical security in exchange for abject conformity. These cunning moral precepts, laws, and rules, well marinated in newly defined social justice, now allow Cultural Marxism to hold mainstream prominence in support of White Privilege, Black Lives Matter, Critical Race Theory, LBGQ+ deviants, and feminist agendas.
Current military/political leadership, at least sense Bill Clinton, emphasizes this distorted historical view using ethnicity, gender, class, and race to undermine basic cohesiveness and leadership authority. In a recent example Joe Biden chose Air Force General Charles Q. Brown Jr. to become Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He said, “that the ideals of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution ‘that I’ve sworn my adult life to support and defend’ have not always delivered ‘liberty and equality’ to all.” However, other forms of government have never delivered material or spiritual prosperity to humanity.
A lot of good men are going to have to die in years to come to cover up the abandonment of the military as the ultimate, focused meritocracy. I now always council folks I meet to never enter the Armed Forces. In our immediate families eight men volunteered and served over three generations, but never again. In our new Armed Forces Kate Smith and her prayer “God Bless America” cannot be allowed to represent a meaningful expression of service. The national anthem becomes a jingle, the oath of office to support and defend the Constitution becomes a parody, and the uniforms become costumes.
I still wear my Navy service dress blue uniform I got in 1969 to the Memorial Day ceremony at our local veteran cemetery, but at least the ribbons are for Vietnam service.

Kate Smith has been treated poorly by this country. Liberals are so ignorant, they don’t know history and make things up to suit their bias. Kate Smith sang with Paul Robeson which was quite brave for an entertainer in those days because Robeson was black and considered a Communist.
If you go on youtube you can see Kate Smith singing with Tina Turner and Cher. Kate was treated poorly by the other two. Typical liberals, they think they are better than everybody else. It’s probably better not to go there and giving it clicks.
BTW the Star Spangled Banner only became the national anthem fewer than a hundred years ago in the 1930’s when Herbert Hoover signed it into law. I personally would prefer God Bless America or America the Beautiful. God Bless America would drive the liberals crazy.

I like “God Bless America”, and could certainly take that as a national anthem, but I do believe “The Star Spangled Banner” sounds more...martial (what with all those base tones) and when done well, can be extraordinarily moving.

I hate their guts. No quarter and no mercy is the revenge I desire against them. Senator Tom Coburn from Oklahoma once referred to obama as his "friend" since they were freshman congressmen together. I don't have friends like that and don't want them and see anyone who calls them friend as an enemy.
