Increasing zinc may be helpful for those with more serious liver issues like cirrhosis.

Zinc testing may be of help, but some believe serum zinc is not an accurate measure of zinc.

Regardless, these tests are available and you can add up your zinc intake with nutrition calculators. Do note a ratio of 7.5 mg zinc to 1 mg of copper is the idealized ratio. Coper and zinc work against each other, so having too much of one can drive out the other from your body.

Definitely get a zinc supplement with copper to balance one another.

Bro, besides the obvious, what helps with weight loss.

Head injury now over 17 years ago and I put on a LOT the 5 years after.

Haven’t gained or lost since.

It’d be great if there were natural things to take to curb the hormones that drive appetite.

Hope you are well :)

I don’t recall what my zinc levels were in the years before my transplant. It would be interesting to know, now. I did have periodic liver panels done for scoring where I was on the wait list. It’s only been about 3 1/2 years, but it seems so long ago.

Having meat (or fish) and eggs every day will help you get your zinc needs met. I do that and I also supplement with a 50mg zinc tablet each day.

Liver issues run in my family and we are also a family of drinkers, so I am careful about taking care of my liver. Based on my blood results, my liver looks to be an excellent shape and I think it's because of my diet that is rich in eggs and meat. I have a minimum of 3 eggs a day, as many as 6. Meat or fish every day. Oysters when I can but those are very expensive.
