Jack’s Thin crust pepperoni and pepperoni sausage mix.
Dr Oeker is not a bad brand in an emergency.
Why? Just keep the fixins ready and make fresh.
We tried a DiGiorno Supreme this week. It was delicious. And I know pizza, having grown up not far from Chicago. Now, I’m not saying it was anywhere nearly as good as Italian pizzeria pizza, but it was very good. And it’s really hard to get decent pizza in Oklahoma.
We’ve been enjoying HEB’s Midtown pizzas the past couple of years for an occasional meal. Their Midtown pizzas had one of the best crusts I’ve ever eaten in a frozen pizza. Both their Meat Trio and Pepperoni pizzas were quite good. I say “were” because just like that, they’ve become discontinue as of a week or two ago. The dough for the crust was imported, and we’re guessing the source is no longer there.
Frozen pizzas are the same price as pizza joints near me. Fuggetaboutit.
Restaurant quality? I think that’s a pretty clear signal not to let her pick the restaurant if you go out to eat with her.
No residential oven even gets close to that temp.
Why would anyone by a mass-produced frozen pizza when just about every place in the USA has at least one family run pizza joint? Probably the same people who think Olive Garden is Italian food.
1 (Detroit style) isn’t bad, I’ve had it a few times, but with bidenflation, like everything else, they cut back a bit on quantity and quality...not the price. Luvs me some DiGiorno supreme, but they too have been “the incredibly shrinking pizza” for a few years now. Our local pizza place used to be very good, but hasn’t been consistent...since bidenflation, and it’s like $26 for a large that used to be a medium.
never saw the last 3, and I recall Celeste not bing very good. As frozen pizza goes, DiGiorno is about the only one I’ve liked recently though I rarely buy frozen pizza.
That’s one food I miss from my younger years up in northeast Ohio. We had small pizza shops all over the place, each one a small operation. The chains like Pizza Hut moved in, but they really weren’t as good.
The Motor City is very good. I am usually a thin crust guy but their crust is a little different and very good.
I think I know your response already. :)
HOWEVER, a couple months ago I saw the Motor City Pizza Co. Detroit-Style Deep Dish Pepperoni Pizza in the grocery freezer. Having had frozen pizza I had low expectations but I've never had Detroit deep dish so I gave it a try.
Turns out it was pretty good and I can see why it came in as #1. You cook it in the try they provide and the crust comes out perfectly crisp and caramelized.
I also add more mozzarella and small pepperoni which is spicier than the large pepperoni.
Tombstone is better than several on the list.
“the Best Was Restaurant-Quality”
I have more than a little doubt about that. Sure, some are better than others and all, but let’s not go overboard.
Restaurant-quality? What restaurant, Taco Bell?
No frozen pizza tastes like a pizza at a pizza joint.
This list is really just another chance to get people talking about the huge, awesome pizzas they make themselves for 23 cents, isn’t it?
