Election Day 2024: What Community Journalists are seeing at the polls
The Land (Greater Cleveland Ohio) ^ | 11/5/24

Election Day 2024 is finally here. The Land’s Community Journalists, and network of other writers, are reporting what they’re seeing around Greater Cleveland today. Early reports note long lines and enthusiastic voters at locations throughout Northeast Ohio. See some of the early observations below.

Ronaldo Rodriguez Jr. is working at Pilgrim Church in Tremont on Tuesday. He said staff have already had to open two overflow areas for voters to queue.

Erin McIntrye voted in Old Brooklyn. She said she arrived at 7:15 a.m. and left at 8:15 a.m. Voters who arrived even earlier — in the neighborhood of 6:30 a.m. — reported seeing even longer lines and wait times. “Neighbors were arriving ready to get in and get out – like past years. It was quite clear that this isn’t like past years,” McIntrye said. Photos from her polling location are below.

Cindy Hill went to vote at 7:15 a.m. at the Shaker Heights Community Building. She reported that the line to vote stretched all the way to Van Aken Boulevard. Scenes from the voting area are below, courtesy of Cindy.

In Cleveland Heights, lines at the Lee Road Library snaked around the building. Voters reported waits of up to 40 minutes. A photo from that location is below, courtesy of Hayley Brown.

Mike McGraw voted at the Cleveland Heights Community Center. “I voted at the Cleveland Heights Community Center, where several CH precincts now vote in the large gym. I arrived around 7:20 a.m. and immediately got in a line that stretched out the door and down the sidewalk nearly to Mayfield Rd. I got inside the building around 7:55 and fed by ballots into the scanner by 8:20. It seemed well staffed by competent staffers.”

Turn out in my location was a very similar experience. It seems bigger than in 2007 for Obama. Lots of young women voting.

Well that’s not a good sign. You know why young women would be there.

Whatever.

We won’t have to worry about anecdotal nonsense in 12 hours, hopefully.

And that’s what this is.

Anecdotal nonsense.

Worry if that’s what you do best, folks.

But I’d say dont. It wastes energy

If they win based on REAL voter turnout, then it is what it is.

If women, espeically young women turn out in droves and take the election, what are you gonna do?

Let’s hope our peopple turn out in bigger numbers.

But both sides vote to win.

As long as it’s fair, that’s the way the republic works.

I saw a screed earlier by a single non-mother younger person who has swallowed an entire gallon of Jim Jones elixir declaring there are fewer restrictions on guns than abortions. Yeah, that bill of rights/constitution protecting guns more than killing babies. Oh, wait....... Pointless to argue with people like that. She also mentioned protecting your daughters uterus as if her life depended on it because it does........ 😵

“You know why young women would be there.”

Yes, they mistook the polling place for their local abortuary.

Ohio mail in voting—remember the Democrats love mail in voting so they should have built up a solid lead:

https://www.dispatch.com/story/news/politics/elections/2024/11/01/more-than-2-million-voted-early-ohio-so-far-see-results/75986372007/

Voted absentee (ballots returned):
Republicans: 612,596
Democrats: 394,274
No party affiliation: 1,033,011

The Democrats are going to be crushed in Ohio.

How slow does a mind have to be to wait until election day to vote.

Because this county early voting is in ‘the hood.’ You have to go into the formal City of Cleveland, find and pay for parking etc. As you can see from the posts, most Cuyahoga residents are not going to ‘that’ location to vote.
