Since 1988, Nickelodeon has been airing a special called “Kids Pick the President,” which features a mock election designed to engage the youth in the political process and determine the kids’ choice for president.
With the exception of 2004 and 2016, the children involved in the special have accurately predicted the presidential victors.
Well, this year’s results are in!
Dave Landau and the “Normal World” team discuss the kids’ verdict.
ccording to actual polling, “there’s no way [Trump] is not going to win,” says Dave.
Sadly, the kids disagree.
According to this year’s Nickelodeon election special, Harris received 52% of the vote while Trump received 48%. Let's hope the youngsters are as wrong about Trump this year as they were in 2016.
"It was still close,” says optimistic Angela Boggs.
“You know that somebody rigged it,” adds Dave skeptically.
This poll may reflect the influence of elementary school teachers, who tend to be lefties.
Before the likes of Linda Ellerbee got their meathooks on the kids....
“This poll may reflect the influence of elementary school teachers, who tend to be lefties.”
Likely the case plus it’s yet another poll that has funky questions.
I remember like yesterday when my 2nd grade teacher, Miss Kenny, took a class vote. All you little darlings who favor John Kennedy raise your hands. All you little devils who favor Richard Nixon raise your hands. She might have been biased.
Nowadays they just offer the kids weed...............
They changed the process to favor Kamala.
Those kids are all Liberal offspring . That doesn’t surprise me at all. This story is at least a week old.
Same in my 4th grade class with Reagan v. Carter. Carter won our class straw poll by a wide margin. My reaction then was the same as it is now: "How is it possible that so many people could be so stupid??!"
Find yourself in a death camp?
Thank a teacher.
I think this is yet another sign to be hopefully optimistic. Each time the Nick Kids got it wrong, the Republican won.
Almost every single celebrity supported George McGovern in 1972, how did that work out?
In the Soviet Union, during Stalin’s time, teachers would ask the students to pray to Jesus for candy. And of course nothing happened. Then they would ask the students to ask Stalin for candy, and the candy came raining down from the ceiling.
I haven’t heard “weekly reader” in years, man that is a blast from the past.
Nick has pedo problems, so they can take there poll and jam it where the sun don’t shine.
But our kids learn the Pledge of Allegience (to the Flag). When did Harris learn that in the Canadian schools she attended as a kid?
They would enjoy that...................
In 1960, all us kids were for Nixon. Guess what happened.
Thus confirming that intellectually and emotionally, Democrats are children.
You have to wonder about a guy running for office, and “govern” is part of his name. He was a commie, BTW.
This could be good news. It might show that the power of elite liberal consensus is weakening.
2016: “The Democrat received 53% of the more than 900,000 votes cast. Republican Donald Trump earned 36%, and Libertarian Gary Johnson won 11%. Nickelodeon collected votes from October 28 through November 5.”
