But last week, the packaged product made headlines after The New York Times’ sports department, The Athletic, issued a shocking article that the NFL is the circular snack’s No. 1 fan. In fact, NFL teams “go through anywhere from 3,600 to 4,300 Uncrustables a week,” meaning that the league is consuming at least 80,000 Uncrustables a year

That’s impossible.
Somebody’s stealing them.....................
Remember there’s a huge staff. Coaches for every position. Strength coaches. Water boys. Not to mention the business side. Each team is probably 1000 people all told.
3,600 per week, divided by 32 NFL teams equals 113 per week per team. Divide that by 45 man roster size (by end of the season, preseason has more players) and it's 3 snacks per person per week.
I know a guy who played NFL-level football - an offensive lineman. He said during the season and with a weight-lifting program, he could easily eat a 48 oz steak for dinner every night, after having had a full breakfast and lunch and snacks during the day.
What’s an uncrustable?
You have to count coaches! And the 100 other staff. And the practice squad. And the injured reserve. And guests.
I don’t think that’s right.
80,000 a year, over an 18-week schedule is around 4,444 per week, spread out over 32 teams equals about 138-140 per team, per week. If you just figured a 53-man roster that would be only 3-4 per person per week, which is not abnormal.
The 53-man roster is just what is active on Sunday, not counting the practice squad and players that are injured.
It’s a peanut butter and jelly sandwich you can buy in the grocery store frozen food section, they are round, and the edges are crimped, a lot of teams have food in the locker room before the game, at halftime and after game. The halftime food is meant as something to give the player energy, things like uncrustables, energy bars, etc., are served.
“That’s impossible.”
Less than one per person per day
Not gonna lie - grape/peanut butter Uncrustables are always going to have a place in my fridge. They’d better not stop making them.
Yes, I think you’re right. ~ 4500 per week for the league, not per team. I read that wrong.
It’s still gross :)
I love PB&J and used to buy uncrustables, the problem is they are small, and it takes about 2 bites to finish one, it’s easy to eat the entire box at one time, which is why I stopped buying them.
It was like Girl Scout Cookies, one sleeve equals one serving if you are not careful, especially with a cold glass of milk to go with them.
Don’t dismiss Fruit Gushers
I saw a posting on Facebook about one-pound bacon packages that applies here - if the package is not re-sealable, then Science says that is a single serving!
No questions, some food items are like that, girl scout cookies, bacon, and PB&Js for me are all in the category of one serving equals the entire package.
DIY uncrustables----sealer/crimper tool (lower left) is $8 on Amazon.
