Counting Down my iTunes Play Count (VANITY) -- Day #41
AC’s iTunes Directory | 10/28/2024 | Alberta's Child

Posted on 10/28/2024 8:15:53 AM PDT by Alberta's Child

Day #41 of the Top 50 songs on my iTunes playlist -- ranked in reverse order by play frequency from #50 to #1 and presented here on a series of FR threads. I've been posting them here on a new thread that compiles the growing list one day at a time over the last couple of months. We are coming down the stretch here, and it looks like this will be done by the second week of November.

And to show my gratitude to the FR management for giving us all a forum to post vanity threads like this, I'll be making contributions for both the 3rd and 4th quarter fundraisers. I would encourage everyone on these threads to do the same! :-)

Have fun with this, folks!

Pinging to those from the previous threads. One of the unique figures of the modern entertainment industry in the U.S. I believe Jimmy Buffett is still the only person who had all three of these accomplishments on his resume: a #1 Billboard hit and #1 New York Times bestselling books for both fiction and non-fiction lists.

"I've done a bit of smuggling, and I've run my share of grass. I made enough money to buy Miami, but I pissed it away so fast."

Let me know if you'd like to be added or removed from the ping list!

Wonderful, melancholy song. I see him in concert 3 times long ago. People having picnics & beach balls in the air; just a very happy concert. He loved his audience.

I read that while he was in hospice at home, his friend Paul McCartney visited & played music for jimmy and his family.

One of my favorite Buffett songs. I have seen him 5 times. He played in Florida very often. Tied with Lynyrd Skynyrd for the most concerts I have seen.

I've grown to appreciate Jimmy Buffett as I age. Must admit I did not like him when I was a teenager, when he was breaking out with his "Cheeseburger in Paradise", "Fins", and all that.

Like Steely Dan, Bruce Hornsby, and Bob Dylan, Buffet is an artist that ages well as you grow older.

My #11 song is "Live Like You Were Dying" by Tim McGraw.

This song really hits you, it is all about living life to the fullest as you never know when you are going to die. When this song came out, I had just lost over 100 pounds and began living a much healthier lifestyle. This song motivated me to start doing things I never did before such as riding ferris wheels, hiking in the deep woods, and going fishing. There's not many life-changing songs that I've heard but this is one of them.

Tim McGraw - Live Like You Were Dying (2004)

Below is my countdown so far.

Thanks for the memories. I always had the impression that Jimmy Buffett fans were a different breed, as they say!
