Capable of hypersonic speeds and precision strikes, this non-nuclear ballistic missile is unlike anything the world has seen. Putin confirms serial production has begun, ensuring Russia stays ahead in global arms competition. Could this be the dawn of a new era in military power?
Russia's latest missile, the Oreshnik, leaves the world stunned. President Putin hails it as a game-changer, declaring it a "guarantee of sovereignty." Capable of hypersonic speeds and precision strikes, this non-nuclear ballistic missile is unlike anything the world has seen. Putin confirms serial production has begun, ensuring Russia stays ahead in global arms competition. Could this be the dawn of a new era in military power?
Here is the Oreshnik missle, not nucklear but impossible for us to stop the hypersonic thrust of the missle. It flys at almost 7,000 mph. mach10.
I always chuckle when I see the fire extinguishers on something like this. I know they serve a purpose, but if the fire gets to the important parts I don’t really think they will do a lot of good.
Then I think of the poor chief on the Forrestal who ran to the fire and I go from chuckling to sad.
If it was going even a third as fast during terminal homing phase it would reduce itself to slag from atmospheric friction.
The faster it is going during the terminal phase of flight, the less it can maneuver and the more predictable it will be for an intercepting missile.

There may be ways to stop it or knock it off course, provided you can overcome any EW interference and / or visually track it AND you have
enough time to counter launch before it hits. Admittedly this would be almost impossible to do in Eastern Europe. If launched against the U.S. in North America
we might have time to try and take it down. The real concern Putin and Russia would have is the U.S. counter strike and whether Moscow would still exist if
they actually were to attack the U.S. I think that defense of the United States will be better after inauguration day.
Given the state of the Russian Military and loss of personel I am not certain how well maintained fleet of missles are. I suspect they have a lot of “Parade Ready” missles
not ready to launch. (Just info from the news. I have no inside the defense department info.)
BS, but it is not a problem for the US, but Europe.
SPRINT could reach 7500 mph in 5 seconds and that is 50 year old tech. Oreshnik, like all ballistic missiles, is essentially V2/SCUD “Corolla” tech with a Honda tuner bling package...
But... I want one of those erectors to build an awesome post apocalyptic RV!
How does it fly at mach 10 with all these boxes and cables attached to the sides...?....just aksn for a FRiend.
Look at that number on the Oreshnik.
