Red wave: Florida GOP maintains nearly 2-to-1 early vote lead over Dems, but trail modestly in mail returns

Nearly 55% of early in-person votes are GOP. Whether these early votes are coming at the expense of Election Day turnout is anyone’s guess, but thus far the Republican Party of Florida is winning the turnout war against the Florida Democratic Party.

The secret sauce: a massive bank of early, in-person votes.

As of Thursday morning, 620,322 Republicans have voted in person, compared to 313,682 Democrats, 188,420 no-party voters and 23,999 “others.” That gives the GOP more than 54% turnout among 1,146,123 early birds.

Democrats do hold an advantage in returned mail ballots, at 709,736 to 606,191 for the GOP. In addition, 321,890 no-party voters and 33,985 “others” have also returned ballots, for a total of 1,671,802 thus far cast.

Dems had a 673,819 advantage in 2020’s returned mail ballots, and that won’t happen this time around in all likelihood.

Republicans dominate active voter registration, with an advantage of 1.055 million.

The early turnout numbers and the massive bank of Republican votes are likely good news for presidential candidate Donald Trump, U.S. Sen. Rick Scott and the efforts to kill constitutional amendments that would legalize recreational pot and would remove state constraints on reproductive rights.

I don’t want to hear about a “RED WAVE”. There is no Red Wave.

Trailing ‘modestly’ in mailed returns

In a general election, how do you know that one side or the other is trailing in mail in ballots? Are the envelopes not the same for R vs D?

I dunno....I know they’d be identifiable in a primary, but for general election ?

Well to be honest Democrats have pretty much just ceded Florida to Republicans. Has Kamala even campaigned there once? Bad thing for democrats is because she hasn’t, it’s likely going to destroy the party down ballot.

On the 5th the liberal computer coders will have their say and nobody will dispute it unless they can afford a billion dollar law suit.

I think when a mail-ballot is returned, the voter who sent in the ballot has their record flagged in the voter registration database as having voted. The voter’s party identification is in their voter record, so it’s easy to tally Dems, Indies, Republicans that have voted.

That is correct. Of course, we don't know who any of these people voted for, but you have to think an increased number of Republican voters means an increased number of votes for Trump.

Also, if you vote early or absentee, many states let you check online to make sure your ballot has been received and deemed valid.

Once we vote early, the Trump campaign no longer expends resources on us. A good thing.

Mail ballots are easy to fudge in some states as there are no controls on validating them...especially when millions roll in late at night.
