Donald Trump has largely avoided interviews where he will be fact-checked in real time. But on Sunday, he sat for an interview on Fox News, where he was challenged directly on some of his most glaring falsehoods of the campaign.
The exchanges that resulted provided a case study in the tactics the former president uses when confronted with facts that contradict his statements.
Mr. Trump repeatedly denied knowledge of information that has long been publicly available, questioned the sources and then pivoted away to an unrelated topic.
On one point, though, he stuck by his words with no deflection or equivocation: He absolutely believed, he said, that his political opponents were an “enemy from within” who posed a greater threat than foreign adversaries.
Here’s a look at notable moments in Mr. Trump’s interview with Fox News’s Howard Kurtz:
‘I have not heard that at all’
Mr. Kurtz questioned Mr. Trump’s recent description of Jan. 6 — when his supporters stormed the Capitol in a failed attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 election — as a “day of love,” and asked whether the former president understood why Americans saw it as a dark day. Mr. Trump didn’t back down from the description, and when Mr. Kurtz pushed back — noting that hundreds of people had pleaded guilty or been convicted, and that many were charged with assaulting police officers — Mr. Trump immediately deflected to another topic. He then claimed that nobody was killed on Jan. 6 and that “nobody had guns here either.”
Several people died as a result of the riot at the Capitol, and Mr. Kurtz pointed out that some of the rioters were armed. In his response, Mr. Trump professed ignorance, though that fact...

“So the ‘radical liberals’ are the Jews in your analogy?”
I’ll stay clear of that question.
...enemy from within” who posed a greater threat than foreign adversaries.
Spot on, not delusional.
“ I’ll stay clear of that question.‘
Why? What point were you attempting to make because that analogy doesn’t make sense if it was an attempt to defend Trump or attack the NYT. It’s actually the opposite.
Why would Trump want to be fact checked by people who tell lies. In all cases it is the MSM that needs to be fact checked.
Standard tactic.
Attribute something to Trump and provide no context or source. Me, I just want to see the interaction in full and not selectively edited.

All the news not even fit for sh*t 💩
Mr. Trump repeatedly denied knowledge of information that has long been publicly available, questioned the sources and then pivoted away to an unrelated topic.

This smear tactic, like others, fails to mention the subject matter of the “information”.
Nobody cares about that anymore.

Because I’ve been baited in the past.
To the NYT, what they call facts and things they believe, not necessarily things that are true. I would be ashamed to say I was from the NYT since they are worse than the National Enquirer when it comes to spin, slease and downright lies.
Undecided voters are not reading this rag
For one thing when the feds accuse you, you have practically no chance if you plead not guilty. The feds get away with heresy evidence and rarely does a judge go against the DOJ. Hence folks plead guilty in a way to get a lighter sentence. I saw Fox today and what I saw was a big move to Kamala. Bartiiromo led off with Bernie Sanders, an avowed commie bashing Trump and Kamala, the second coming. It was disgusting.
The New York times is nothing but garbage~!!!!
Maria Barteroma went over this today. The media totally twisted Trumps words.
guess you love to post NYT?
The polls must be fairly accurate, the NYT as are other Harris Media surrogates are desperately throwing crap on the wall hoping something will stick.
I see you are up to your old tricks again. Thanks for giving us at least a couple days respite.
