There’s long been speculation of underground chambers below the monument known as the Khaznah, or the Treasury, in the ancient city of Petra, Jordan — and now it’s been confirmed.
Archaeologists recently discovered a tomb with at least 12 human skeletons and artifacts, estimated to be at least 2,000 years old, CNN reported.
The elaborate monument, carved into pink sandstone cliffs, has been featured in several movies — it’s most well-known as the site of the Holy Grail in the 1989 film “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.”
In 2003, two tombs were found below the left side of the monument on an expedition led by Dr. Pearce Paul Creasman and other archaeologists, leading to theories that they weren’t the only ones.
Creasman, executive director of the American Center of Research, and his team used a remote sensing technique called ground-penetrating radar, which uses pulses to detect underground objects to see if the physical features on the left side, where the first two tombs were found, matched the features on the right.
They found strong similarities between the two sides, giving them the proof they needed to get permission from the government in Jordan to start digging.
“I think we’ve got something,” Creasman told Josh Gates, host of Discovery Channel’s “Expedition Unknown,” according to CNN.

Petra has a significant role in the not-too-distant future, 3.5 years into the tribulation, as the hiding place of 1/3rd of Israel who escape and run for their lives when the “beast” rips off his mask, proclaims himself to be God, seats himself in the newly erected Jewish temple in Jerusalem, and slaughters the Jews who don’t escape (Matthew 24:15-20; Revelation 12:6, 14).

Josh Gates actually discovering something for once would be the real news.
Well up on the list of “condescending narration to a clueless audience” TV shows. I try watching when it’s a interesting topic, but the tone just grates. Don’t talk to me like I’m an autistic 6 year old.
Everyone knows the grail is hidden in the money pit on Oak Island. The only question is how many seasons of some show on the History Channel will it take of Scott Wolter to find it.
The very biggest news and surprise is that Josh Gates found something!

A former co-workers first job was to help catalog the contents of a warehouse like that. It ws an NSA warehouse, holding all the old stuff that NSA and predecessor service organizations squirlled away, going back to WW 1. NSA had no idea what much of the contents were.
Co-worker described it as looking like the warehouse in Indiana Jones. Now many of the interesting bits are in the spy museum. Not the holy grail, though. I could tell you where that ended up, but then your face might melt off.
