I think many of us come here for some fellowship with like minded conservative allies and it makes us happy to see that we are not alone.
But, over the years I have noticed something that seems amiss to me, which is the lack of responses to people who have expressed their opinion.
Many is the time that I see a comment to which no one has replied; a situation in which no one responds to a Freeper who has expressed an opinion.
I think most, if not all of us, would likely enjoy an acknowledgement that people have read our comment and agree with it, or even that people have read it and disagree with it! (So that we can have an argument, which is something we contrarians tend to enjoy! :) )
I urge people to respond to comments from other Freepers, especially if that comment is directed at you. I encourage Freepers to acknowledge the people who have posted a message to you, because we all want to believe our opinions matter and are worthy of consideration.
At the very least give them a "+1" (which means "UpVote") to indicate you've read their comment and agree with it. A more thoughtful reply is even better!
Let people know you care what they think and are not indifferent to their existence.
Not only should this boost the amount of traffic on Free Republic, it should encourage a happier more pleasant experience for all participants. It may even lead to more people wanting to join Free Republic!
If you start with upvoting and downvoting, FR risks becoming another Reddit.
Well not against each other anyways, but I notice a lot of people on the national stage that I feel deserve a little profanity and some also deserve a good punch in the nose.
:)
PREACH IT!!!!!!
happy to serve
Hi Sweetie
Back in the day it was BTTT.
Put it in your tagline if it fits.
Even better... maybe throw 5 bucks a month into the cause we all rely on for our news and insights? Would you even miss it?
And this is true. After starting to respond to people who have replied to me in this thread, I started to become alarmed that I may have bitten off more than I can chew!
By advocating that everyone deserves a response, I have effectively committed myself to a lot of work when the responses get to be too many.
I hope I will not be overwhelmed.
It would be nice if there was a LIKE button to acknowledge a good post, but this site hasn't been upgraded since the 1990s so not expecting that anytime soon.
And this is exactly right. Of course if there was such a feature, I can see myself getting loads of downvotes for some of the controversial topics I discuss. :)
It would be a nice feature to be added to Free Republic, but this would have to be something the Robinsons would have to decide. It may not be worth the trouble it would take to add it to the existing system.
Instead of using sincerely , fondly ,love and such at the end of a letter I’m going to start using.
“swollen and engorged’
Al baby

My beard is not, but only because I haven't let it get that long... lately. My hair is solving that problem by slowly going away over time. :)
Unless you're the lamp and not the man, in which case how do you type on a computer keyboard?
I'm Plato's man. I type with my beak.
that’s not what we do...
Yeah, I know. That's why i'm trying to change it! :)
Make it a Wonderful Day.
Be the best *YOU* that you can be! Live!
Absolutely!
You are standing too close!
LOL
Yes it was, and I would like to cite Jefferson's letter in which he apologizes for the length of the letter because he lacked the time to make it shorter.
In my case it wasn't a matter of time, it was my garrulous nature.
I take no offense when someone doesn’t respond, I understand it was too deep and they need to process. ;^)
Watch and see.
As I noted earlier to Dan in Wichita, I may have gotten myself into a bit of a trap. This thing has turned into a lot more work than I anticipated. :)
Be kind to your web-footed friends, too.

Yep web foots like to quack a bit also.
