Glilmour’s new album is really good. There’s one song on it, with Rick Wright on keyboards that was recorded back around 2008, he even appeared in the video.
I like the music but unfortunately it has been tainted by the kook Waters and I now listen to the myriad of other options available from other artists.
You're wrong. That's not saying that it is a fantastic solo, but not the best ever.
Crazy to think some long lost relative of Barrett who never met the guy is about to have a load of cash fall on his head.
I was surprised that Waters wrote Wot’s...Uh The Deal, which is one of my favorites, Gilmour still does it in his live shows.

Another cool collaboration was on Supertramp’s Brother where you bound with Scott Gorham and David Gilmour on “Better Days”.

Good, will have to check it out, had heard rumors that arthritis has sidelined him from playing
This is my favorite on the album

Gilmour was everywhere then. He played with Pete Townshend, Paul McCartney, Kate Bush, among others.
They don’t make’m like that anymore.
Also, Gilmore didn’t have exceptional chops and wasn’t the virtuoso many famous guitar players are. He just had the ability to make beautiful music with the skills he had. Which is probably the more valuable attribute for a musician.
Amen.
I had been unable to listen to any Pink Floyd music since then.

I think that you are confusing Roger Waters with Pink Floyd... even the rest of the group was sick of him. I attended a David Gilmour concert a few years ago. He’s a lefty but none of that was evident at a concert... just good music.
Not at all. They keep finding new fans. I drive by the university periodically and when school is in session I almost always see at least 1 Pink Floyd shirt.
This was back in 2004. But it so sickened me it tainted everything I listened to that Waters had been involved with.
It is a very emotional experience, every time. Like Gilmour, I never play it exactly the same twice; there are certain critical themes and riffs, of course, but the phrasing tends to reflect the moment.
When the vocal ends, and there's a slide to the open-D string as the solo begins, I always have the feeling I'm on a roller coaster at the crest of the initial climb, heading downhill, and at that point there's no thought, no intellect, just raw emotion, my fingers are on autopilot, pouring out feeling almost on their own. And just like the roller coaster, it has to run to completion, there's no stopping it.
For me, being in that "zone" is the quintessential joy of playing music. It doesn't happen often, but when it does, it's the best.
Perhaps, he had had some pretty good riffs with the notes per second that many like. As for me I prefer his style of music.
To each his own as they say and when I say I am referring to them🤪
I agree. I enjoy David much more than some shredder.
