When it comes to ordering a steak, it's not nearly as simple as selecting your cut of choice, and level of doneness. For some, it's a matter of ordering the right steak for two, or pre-gaming with steak tartare. For others, it's about finding a good steak at an affordable price, or seeking out the highest-quality Prime beef. For some discerning diners, however, the end-all-be all boils down to the aging process—and the eternal debate between wet-aged steak, and dry-aged steak.

I'd go with Fogo de Chão.
The Capital Grille
Smith & Wollensky
Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steakhouse
Fogo de Chão
Morton's The Steakhouse
STK
Fleming's Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar
Oak Steakhouse
Soon to be a story on where to get the best lab grown steak.
Have you considered Fogo de Chão?
Sorry, the words ‘restaurant chain’ and ‘best steak’ do not go together.
I actually prefer wet-aged, but Fogo is a wonderful place.
Correct.
We used to have a local meat market here that sold meats at very reasonable prices and cut to order. Sadly they closed up shop when the owner died. But you could get some really tender steaks that you could practically cut with a spoon...............
I had good experience at Fogo de Chão.
Lot’s of good beef on that list.
I’ve only had the standard table carving service at Fogo de Chão. Is the add on tomahawk that good?
I liked the Fort Worth Double Eagle better than San Diego, but I might give them another chance pretty soon. They were pretty new when I tried them.
STK and Fleming’s are both on my regular rotation.
FYI, COSTCO sells Fleming’s $100 gift cards for $80...
Salad at Oak Steakhouse.
I know of most of the restaurants on your list. But I have not dined at any of them.
Well travelled, but not to those houses. Still, there are many good steaks to be had nationwide.
Thank you for the list.
You are welcome
I like anyplace that serves Meat by Linz. Best steaks anywhere.
You can add to that list any Jeff Ruby restaurant - all are located in Cincinnati & Commonwealth of KY.
Cattleman’s Dallas Texas
1966
Chateaubriand
In Nashville too btw
I’m with Mac
Mine on the charcoal (your pick the briquettes type and material)
I prefer nice sirloin or top filet
Is superior
But if I have to choose strictly on the meat in 2024
Morton’s
Jeff Ruby’s is very good, all the NFL players eat there when in town. They’re located in Cincinnati (3 locations), Columbus, Lexington, Louisville and Nashville.
Your Ruths Chris downtown was pretty damn good in 2004.
The very best steak is the one on my table.
