LIVINGSTON COUNTY, MI – Three people have been arraigned on felony charges accused of brawling with police Friday at a chicken restaurant visited by an NBA legend.
William Jaymani Dmichael Prieto, Holly Renee Strong and Abagail Selah Hope Strong were arraigned Sept. 29 on multiple felony charges following the fight Sept. 27, when a huge crowd lined up to see Shaquille O’Neal at the Big Chicken in Hartland, according to the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office.
Prieto, 21, is accused of assault with intent to do great bodily harm, carrying a concealed weapon and three counts of assaulting police, court records show.
Holly Strong, 48, is charged with attempting to disarm a police officer and three counts of assaulting police.
Her daughter, Abagail Strong, 21, is charged with assaulting police.
O’Neal’s visit was not supposed to be a public event, police said, but at 1 p.m. Sept. 27, the NBA icon’s public relations staff notified police information had been leaked and they were anticipating a large crowd, police said.
Because of the short notice, the sheriff’s office could only send a few deputies and they arrived to see about 250-300 people at the restaurant awaiting O’Neal’s arrival, police said
One attendee, Prieto, became confrontational with a deputy who was able to deescalate the situation and continue patrolling, police said.
Shortly after O’Neal’s arrival, at about 6 p.m., a bystander approached deputies and pointed out Prieto, saying he was making assaultive comments about the deputies and was digging in his bag, possibly for a weapon, police said.
A deputy approached Prieto and he allegedly tried to punch the deputy. The deputy pulled out his Taser and Holly Strong attacked him while attempting to take away the Taser, police said.
Abagail Strong then joined in, assaulting the deputy before two other deputies arrived to pull the two women away from the deputy, police said.
When the two women fell to the ground during the brawl, Prieto joined the fray and grabbed a deputy from behind, attempting to put him in a chokehold, police said.
The two other deputies deployed their Tasers, which had no effect, then rejoined fight. They were eventually able to subdue Prieto, police said.
Police told the two women they were under arrest, but they continued to resist the deputies, police said.
Bond was set at $50,000 for Prieto. The Strongs each posted $250 bonds, records show. Their next court hearing is scheduled for Oct. 8 before Livingston County District Judge Shauna Murphy.
The same night, sheriff’s deputies were busy with the Pinckney High School Homecoming Parade and the Hartland-Brighton football game in Hartland and there were not enough deputies required for a large crowd at Big Chicken, police said.
The Brighton Police Department, Green Oak Police Department and the Michigan State Police assisted at the scene.
I guessed. Half right.................
Is that The Preditor?
...and what comes after guilty?
I’m sure Shaq was thrilled to see these .orons. I don’t know his politics, but he seems like a classy guy who actually enjoys being around people. It’s a shame these miscreants turn into a circus.
In a related story, restaurant chain runs out of chicken wings.
According to their website they also have chicken sandwiches and ‘tenders’ and waffle fries.
The couple times we have gone there it was pretty good.
I like him
Gives me those thighs! Now!
Ban fried chicken!
Michigan has a great prison system, maybe both will end up in nearby Jackson State Penn.
Make a right at the Big Chicken and you’ll be there in no time!
