Lefties historically have had a tendency to get left behind. Until relatively recently, being left-handed was stigmatized, sometimes as an abnormality or sign of weakness. Left-handed children were forced to learn to write with their right hands, often to their significant disadvantage.
Of course, we now know that there’s nothing wrong with being left-handed. As University of Toledo psychologist Stephen Christman recently explained in Scientific American, there’s almost no evidence to suggest that lefties are at any sort of physical or psychological disadvantage. For one thing, lefties have comprised roughly 10 percent to 15 percent of the general population for many thousands of years. The fact that the trait has remained stable over many generations suggests that left-handedness is not an evolutionary weakness, as many psychologists of the past believed.

As a south paw - THIS is what I remember. Hated those righty desks.
One good thing for me, though, is that I have always used my right hand for my computer mouse, so I can scroll with my right and take notes with my left hand without having to put down my pen.
But nobody ever tried to force me to use my right hand, thankfully (born in the early 60’s).
Osama Obama is left-handed, as is the only progressive in my immediate family (though my relative is very generous and caring to family. Still nuts politically, though.)
lol
🤣🤣🤣
My oldest son is fascinating. He will go a couple months left-handed and then suddenly switch to being right-handed. He’s never aware when the flip takes place. I’ve seen it happen several times.
When he is left-handed, his right hand is awkward. And vice-versa.
He’s 34 years old and cannot tell you which hand his right and which hand is his left hand.
~Easy
I am left handed and found that fishing reels were designed for left handed people; Cast left and crank right.
Right handed people cast right, change hands and crank right. Fun to watch the fishing shows and the pros did same.
Recent decades have seen spin cast reels made with interchangeable crank handles but it was not for lefties.
Archery is another war/sport item designed for lefties though right handed people never knew this and why.
You seriously do not want to use your left hand while eating in Middle Eastern countries.
Admiral Nelson’s was left handed. Of course he did have his right arm blown off.
With me I am also left eyes and left footed. Must be hard for guys in boot camp have to reserve directions.
Used to be mugs with
Hire Lefthanders.
They’re Fun To Watch
(One showed a man with his tongue out of the corner of his mouth, leaning close to the paper as he intently concentrated on making squiggly words.)
Here is a partial list of left-handed Presidents:
Harry S. Truman was left-handed as a child, but he wrote with his right hand and used his left for most other activities.
Gerald Ford
Ronald Reagan was naturally left-handed, but wrote with his right hand.[
George H. W. Bush.
All three major candidates for president in 1992 were left-handed.
Bill Clinton.
Barack Obama.
Same with me. I write and eat left-handed, throw right, golf, bat, and shoot right, play tennis and squash left. Just did what seemed natural, never forced anything.
And the visual arts.
Ambidextrous.
Interesting because my husband, I and my kids are all great with math, and yet my husband is the most seriously right handed individual I have ever met.
My one daughter seemed to lean that way as a baby to the point where I was starting to be concerned because her left hand would just sit at her side while she exclusively used her right hand. She’s the most math inclined of them all, it turns out.
The other two, no slouches in math by any means are almost ambidextrous.
I’m somewhere in the middle and not as math savvy as the rest but can hold my own mathematically. Once I got a teacher who actually taught me math the right way.
No, he’s not ambidextrous. He is either left-handed or right-handed for periods of time.
A psychologist at UNC said that was impossible. But after observing him for a few months he said that is what is happening.
He’s yanking your chains.
I played baseball & golf left-handed and tennis right-handed.
Growing up in Dayton, OH I was awarded an “Amateur Athlete of the Year” by the City for my age group.
I write right-handed.
Life is so confusing...
Lefties and gingers have no souls.
Born a woman, every test I’ve taken indicates an 80% or higher male dominated brain/thought patterns.
I'm righthanded. I can barely use my left hand.
About 20 years ago, I took two tests that were supposed to determine a person's sex based on a series of questions. Both results determined that I was 100% male. LOL.
Note: I'm a woman. I wear my hair long. I've given birth and nursed all my babies. I loved being a mommy. Engineering has never interested me, and neither do sports.
The first test was only a fun online test, but the other women scored as female. The second test was part of a science exhibit, and it was based on thought patterns.
The most amusing part, though, was that two men (one an engineering major) with me at the science exhibit teased me about my results. Then, they took the test, and it determined their brains were mostly female. LOL.
So, I don't know... but that second test might've been created with an agenda.
