Watching Trump's last rally, he stated that Evangelicals and gun owners do NOT vote at high levels. I found that very hard to believe.
I would have thought those two groups would vote at the highest levels!
So I did a little research and found the following--
Evangelicals...
make up 28% of all voters--a really huge number--more than African Americans, Hispanic and union voters combined--that is amazing.
However, many Evangelicals do not vote....roughly 30% are not even registered, and of those that are registered, 40% do not vote. WOW!
Gun owners...
10 million hunters and gun owners are NOT registered to vote!
Pennsylvania alone has 515,277 not registered, and about a half million in Georgia, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, Virginia and Wisconsin each!
Arizona has 133,000 not registered, Nevada 59,173 and Montana 53,233. Again, WOW!
WHY???
I am an evangelical, a veteran, and a gun owner, and I don’t like ANY of the candidates. In fact, I haven’t liked anyone since Reagan, but I still vote, not because it has anything to do with my faith, but because I view it as my civic duty. Do I believe God is in control? Absolutely! That belief requires that I accept His will in all matters. Have I been disappointed with the outcomes of the last several elections? Yes, even 2016, but will admit it was preferable to the alternative. Sometimes I feel that the US is facing God’s judgement, but that does not keep me from voting and praying for a revival in this country, and that God would raise up a man according to His heart to be president. But regardless of the outcome, I always pray that He would change/guide the heat of the person in office. All the while examining my own heart to see if I am right with Him.

I know a lot of non voting gun owners, they are mostly just good old boys who are simply unable to connect what goes on in politics with what happens with the laws of the land in their minds. 90% of them have never belonged to the NRA. They make no time for politics or any of the assorted politicians. They don’t listen to talk radio, don’t watch the news on TV, etc. They are just living life, “working for the weekend”, can’t hardly wait for whatever hunting season is coming up, and on and on and on.
Wait, Trump isn’t good enough and I am stuck on stupid? You are the political retard here.

The party is horrible at getting people registered. And once they are, they won’t door knock which is a great way to remind people to vote. I understand that republicans like to think our party are the adults who are responsible to vote so don’t need reminded. But clearly that’s not true. We need to collectively stop being lazy!!!

Because while the two main parties court the people with money, pay lip service to the "urban poor" and give the upper middle class a couple of pats the rest are ignored.
When you are not asked to the dance you tend not to go.
Very few people are single issue voters, you need to attract them on at least two points before they will pay you any attention.
Our daily life is also an action plan. We are to read the word and pray. That requires effort on our part!
