NFL Hall of Famer Tony Dungy publicly questioned Vice President Kamala Harris on Thursday after she made a statement about abortion rights.
“One does not have to abandon their faith or deeply held beliefs to agree: The government, and certainly Donald Trump, should not be telling a woman what to do with her body,” Harris posted Thursday.
Dungy, who led the Indianapolis Colts to a Super Bowl victory and was the first Black head coach to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, responded with a seemingly pointed question.
“Exactly what ‘faith’ are you talking about when you say you don’t have to abandon it to support abortion?” Dungy wrote Thursday on Twitter. Citing scripture, he referenced Christian teachings on the sanctity of life, asking whether Harris’ message aligned with such beliefs or if it referred to a more general idea of faith.
Harris has remained committed to reinstating protections similar to those once provided under Roe v. Wade. Dungy’s response is part of a broader conversation among public figures concerning faith and abortion. Dungy also retweeted former NFL player Benjamin Watson’s response to another Harris post, which discussed a woman’s tragic death in Georgia after Roe v. Wade was overturned. Watson argued that the incident was due to medical malpractice, not Georgia’s pro-life law, and criticized Harris for promoting “politically motivated falsehoods.”
Dungy, a longtime advocate for pro-life causes, has consistently used his platform to express his Christian views on the sanctity of life, including his active participation in the March for Life in Washington, D.C. His critique of Harris’ stance on abortion shows his ongoing efforts to frame the issue as one deeply rooted in faith and scripture.
Dungy transitioned from his playing career as a defensive back to become the head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1996. Over the next 13 seasons, including seven with the Indianapolis Colts, he amassed 148 wins and finished his coaching career with a 148-79-0 record. Since retiring from coaching, Dungy has served as an analyst for NBC’s “Football Night in America.”

A darn good question......one that as usual will go unanswered
You know... the thing.
Harris is now an expert on spiritual matters, faith, medical procedures and indeed, God Himself?
Go, Tony! I always liked him
That’s probably right.

She worships a different god.
Sounds like he got tricked by the devil.
He thinks he made a deal with Christ. I say he is mistaken.
