Icom huh? So a few electronics get sabotaged and all of a sudden every radio in the world is dangerous? If So then how come all my ham radios in my shack never blew up?
My handhelds are fine, and my shack radios ditto.
People need to get a grip. My radios are not going to esplode...or explode either. And I talk on them all over the world. Not Icoms but Yaesu. But...If anyone out there wants to unload their icoms out of fear...I am your man. And o yea...I need a new antenna tuner and could use a good oscilloscope. C’mon man...get a grip

From pictures I’ve seen online the radios in question seem to be based on Motorola’s HT series. Specifically the HT 1250.

Anyone can test such equipment first by tuning into any CW originating from Tehran... and standing a pretty good much long way far back.

Those were actually pretty good radios, but they haven’t been manufactured for a while. My service manual is copyright 2002, so they would probably have to be a rebrand.

I hooked one of those to my service monitor once.
It was pretty much right on, maybe just a bit hot on the mod.
Just don’t let the word get out, it’s hard to compete with $50 radios!
Yeah, there’s still some floating around out there. They’ve become dirt cheap on the secondary market.

Kidding aside I think that all the major electronics manufacturers could use this kind of ‘PR’ to hurt their competition.
