Heartwarming Tales of Terrorists Blowing Themselves Up
RedState ^ | 9/17/2024 | Jim Thompson

We’ve recently read some heartwarming stories concerning terrorists in Lebanon being separated from their mortal coils as they were blown up by their own pagers. Israel had no comment other than (I'm guessing) Mossad agents giving each other high-fives for a job well done.

RedState's Susie Moore wrote:

I'm not sure who had exploding pagers on their Bingo cards for 2024, but why not? As Bonchie reported earlier:

In one of the most unbelievable developments of 2024, Israel somehow hacked into the pagers and cell phones of Hezbollah fighters and caused them to explode. News of hundreds of injuries, including dismemberments broke on Tuesday morning. Shortly after, videos of devices blowing up began to circulate.

Israel can’t admit to blowing up terrorists using pagers, but everyone knows it wasn’t lithium batteries that just all-of-sudden blew up at the same time. It was carried out by a nation-state intent on ending bad guys. If they weren't ended, they at least lost the use of some appendages. Technology has been used to great effect, eliminating terrorists or terror infrastructure. In 2021, Operation Olympic Games destroyed a cluster of Iranian centrifuges used, no doubt, to forward Iran’s nuclear bomb program. It was a cyber bug planted by Israel and the U.S. Other terror plots were foiled, not by sophisticated logic bombs or technology but by just dumb luck – and I mean dumb. As in, terrorists can be really dumb.

Eight years ago, Sevdet Ramadan Besim decided he was going stuff the pouches of kangaroos with explosives, then paint them in Islamic State colors. Apparently he thought the 'roos would just sit there compliantly. He intended to set them loose on the streets of Melbourne. No, seriously, Besim thought that he could corral kangaroos and maybe convince them to jihad themselves for the “cause.” He got caught before any kangaroo could beat him senseless and disembowel him. But my favorite feel-good dumb terrorist story happened 12 years ago in Bangkok, Thailand.

Three Iranian nationals were plotting an attack on Israeli diplomats using “sticky bombs.” The botched plot started botching when the rented apartment of three inept terrorists went...“boom!”

In March 2012, the Bangkok neighborhood shook when the apartment exploded, and three bloodied men staggered out of the building. The terrorists (who I will code-name Manny Moe and Curly) went in different directions. Saied Morad (code-name Curly because his hair was likely curled from the blast) was a 28-year-old Iranian [former] soldier. Curly was bleeding from his ears to his feet. He was carrying what witnesses described as a backpack and two black boxes. The black boxes were devices with green wires sticking out of them. Bloody Curly tried to hail a cab. The cab driver, seeing a bloody man who was perhaps still smoking from the apartment blast, refused to stop for Curly’s hail. In response, Curly tossed a bomb at the cabbie. Kaboom!

Curly had one bomb left. As the police closed in, he tried to toss his last bomb at the cops. Fortunately, his sticky bomb got stuck on something, and it boomeranged back at Curly and blew up, with the blast removing Curly’s legs from the rest of his body. It also removed his right eye. The police arrested what was left of Curly. Unfortunately for Curly, he didn’t get his 72 virgins on that fateful day. He survived. Curly appeared in court missing his legs and right eyeball, but he was still able to raise a defiant fist in the air. His defense was classic: “I had no idea where the bombs came from." He was shocked, shocked to find bombs in the cupboard. Curly claimed he had opened the kitchen cabinet and instead of falafels, he found...bombs. RUN! he told Manny and Moe. Curly took the brunt of the bomb blast. Unlike Curly's legs, his defense didn't fly. He was convicted and sentenced to 28 years in prison. Manny and Moe were also arrested and sent to prison.

The story of Manny Moe and Curly doesn’t have a completely feel-good happy ending. All three were repatriated - sent back to Iran in exchange for an Australian woman who Iran had managed to nab and arrest on trumped-up charges.

One hopes that Israel continues to “allegedly” blow up terrorists using the terrorists’ own pagers. One hopes that Iran continues to send dumb terrorists out into the wild, only to manage to blow themselves up or manage, as was the case for Curly, to separate himself from his legs and eyeball.

There's a reason anyone under U.S. jurisdiction would have refused to set this up

Once again, you apply a set of standards that isnt applicable and you imply that ROE (which can change) is law of war. You are incorrect on both counts.

The laws of armed conflict apply to uniformed military, not unlawful combatants. Hezbollah is a terrorist organization, not a military unit beholden to the accepted conventions of war. Additionally, it was not Israeli soldiers who pulled off this op. It was clearly covert operatives. Given you know nothing of who or how they managed this, your uninformed criticism is...uninformed.

From the photos and video I’ve seen, the material was right up against the terrorists’ bodies, and the further away anyone was, the less there would be damage. One guy on a video had his ears briefly hurt from the loudness of the sound, but otherwise just looked around to see what was going on.

Anyone with a lithium battery is a walking (or driving) fire hazard, anyway. Other battery types don’t explode nearly as easily, but we’ve migrated to lithium because it stores much more energy.

I have absolutely no problems with this terrorist situation. The terrorists were the threat to those standing nearby, which, if you think about it, is always the case.

You would rather that Israel dropped 4000 bombs on Lebanon killing and maiming far more innocents?

That's a False Equivalency. Who said anyone needed to drop 4,000 bombs on Lebanon?

Hacked into, could apply I guess, but that is usually a computer term.
It sounds like they intercepted a delivery of pagers, and physically placed the explosives in the devices.

Yoits, did you take training on how to be a ‘concern troll’ or are you so open minded that your brain fell out?

Sod off you limp-wristed, cheese-eating, surrender monkey. We need you like we need a case of AIDS.

My standards? My standards? Just sit through one single briefing by a JAG officer on the Laws of Armed Conflict. There's a reason anyone under U.S. jurisdiction would have refused to set this up and carried it out because they know they'd be charged for any innocent deaths.

We like to believe we have that luxury. The Israelis don't.

This thing is so lopsided on the side of killing/injuring terrorists, that it is unimaginable that the downside possibility of any civilians getting hurt could offset the huge benefit of hurting the terrorists.

So, you're saying we can expect to see the same justification in the United States? As long as they're covert, justify their own targets, and ignore innocent civilians?

Because that's where such devaluation of innocent life is going.

“So... civilians in the United States are viable targets due to the wars our corrupt government has started overseas.”

Of course we are, dimwit. We have been since the development of the nuclear ICBM.

Over 4000 injured, 11 dead.

Has Biden Harris ordered flags at half staff?

Tolerated FReepers already labeled it war crimes.

D-Day allied casualties on the first day were at least 10,000

Antietam (also on Sept 17th) was the bloodiest day in American history, with a tally of 22,727 dead, wounded, or missing on both sides.

My point is that 4,000+ casulties is a big number. Let that fact sink in.

Innocent people deserve more than "pretty sure".

Not in war they don't. If you have an operation that can severely injure 4,000 enemy soldiers but might harm 10-100 civilians, you are a d@mn fool if you don't do it.

That a very small number of civilians might be harmed, is not a rational reason to forebear killing or injuring 4,000 enemy soldiers.

How many civilians will die by letting all those soldiers live?

Your calculations are leaving out the deaths that would be caused by the terrorists. Those are much more likely than possible injuries or deaths caused to civilians caught in the attack on the terrorists.

I am saying you are applying a set of constraints that dont necessarily apply.

And you are attempting to hamstring one side in a war that has two sides.

Try telling Hezbollah about the illegalities and innocent civilian lives lost by indiscriminate rocket attacks on Israeli cities from Syria and Lebanon. Remind them about war crimes tribunals.

I think if you look throughout history, you will find it is the victor that makes the rules. The loser doesnt get to demand justice for war crimes.

Remember all that, all of it.

Remember it when considering the innocent lives lost during a botched operation in Las Vegas blamed on a "lone wolf" shooter. Remember it when you read about someone dying in an automobile crash in the United States under suspicious circumstances, knowing that the car could be controlled remotely. Remember it when you watch lives devalued even further than they are. Remember it when you're tossing off, living with your government mandated AIDS from a MurdeRNA bioweapon, eating your government fake cheese, and waving your limp wrist at your captors - but don't say you weren't warned.

That's the same argument the korrupt government used to force the COVID-1984 Jim Jones Jab on innocent people - and it turned out to be one massive lie.

Don’t expect me to get worked up about your imaginary casualties. Whoever planned and executed the attack knew there might be collateral damage. If there aren’t any injured women or children, the Koranimals likely aren’t above creating some to trot out for the media. Direct your strongly worded letters elsewhere.
