According to a report in The Independent, a 1,700-year-old grave was discovered in southern Germany during a construction project. The grave contained the remains of a 60-year-old man who was buried with pottery, glassware, and a small fine-toothed comb. He is thought to have belonged to the Alemanni Germanic tribes that lived along the frontier of the Roman Empire. The study also revealed that the grave was situated in a prominent location and was enclosed with a wooden chamber. To read about a 9,000-year-old burial in Germany that was filled with ritual objects, go to "The Shaman's Secrets."

The fact that an offering had been made to the departed shaman came as no surprise. But radiocarbon dates the team gathered in 2022 indicate that these gifts are around 600 years younger than the woman’s grave, meaning they were placed there more than 20 generations after her death. This antler offering was made around 8,400 years ago and coincided with a dramatic cold spell in prehistoric Europe. Perhaps, Meller says, later shamans called on their distant ancestor for help in troubled times.

This speaks to the strength of the shaman's people and their culture.

The culture survived 600 years without being conquered by other tribes or being driven from their land.

Since memory of the shaman and the location of her grace had to be passed on by word of mouth, these people had a strong sense of self and a strong faith in their belief system.

I am guessing that the grave was well marked and was maintained for those 600 years and that when these people were finally driven out or subsumed in to another culture that the grave marker material was stolen for other purposes.

Or, they didn’t know there was an earlier grave.

Q: Why couldn’t the vampire see his reflection in the mirror?

A: Because it was made in China.

He is thought to have belonged to the Alemanni Germanic tribes that lived along the frontier of the Roman Empire.

That's interesting. One of the French word for Germany is Allemagne, in Spanish Alemán. Italians, however, have the words Germania for the country and Tedesco for a German.
