NJ Energy bills hit the roof

After a surge in home energy bills that left many New Jersey residents with costs that have doubled, or more, there have been widespread calls for hearings to hold the state utility commission, the governor and supporters of green energy accountable.

State Sen. Mike Testa, R-Salem, echoed those calls and said on Wednesday that much of the blame goes to Democrat Gov. Phil Murphy’s "Energy Master Plan," launched in 2020.

"New Jersey is already one of the most unaffordable states in the United States of America. Now people are being hit with energy bills that are essentially doubled. And look, I get it that it was a hot July, but it wasn't that hot that your energy bills should have doubled," Testa said.

Liberals insisted that electric companies move to “green” energy in order to meet their Global Climate Religion rules. In exchange, the companies were allowed to raise their rates.

Service fees?

I pay $32 monthly just for the privilege of being connected to the rural electric co-op. That used to be my monthly bill for lighting ,electric cookstove, and electric water heater plus TV,radio etc.(I seldom use air conditioner preferring fans for economy )The kwh charge is about 13 cents on top of the service fee.
And the federal government forced the closure of a modern coal plant causing $60+ MILLION loss to just my co-op.

Smart readers can be fooled. My power meter isn’t aware of most of the power we consume. Home solar results in only 1/5th of our power having to come through the meter (from the grid).

If you get a solar inverter with the feature to optionally turn off the grid sell (putting excess power onto the grid), you can reduce the amount of power you pull from the grid without the power company knowing why your grid activity has reduced. To them it looks like other people’s normal power demand reductions like your kids grew up and moved out, or you replaced your electric water heater with a gas one, or you’re retired and traveling a lot more).

Of course that’s only if the climate you live in is practical for solar.

The meter reader unions in states where you don’t have the right to work, prevent any change

Stupidity should hurt. If you reflexively vote for people with bad plans, you should have to pay the price for your support of those people.

You should know what you’re talking about before you shoot off. This area of N.J. is mostly conservative, excluding a few towns of course. Also, I would not ask for or want your sympathy, and where we live is far from a shithole. The problem is at the top, a liberal ass I did not vote for. I consider it cowardly to move, I’d rather stay and fight.

I have voted Republican since Reagan. The off shore windmill debacle was not voted on to my knowledge, It’s being rammed down our throats even with a lot of objections from residents. Still does not amount to the astronomical increases. The electric companies are making interest on the overpayments. I cannot believe this is legal.

We had to trim some azaleas because the meter reader was afraid something might jump out at him, some creature. It took 3 months for us to find out why the meter wasn’t read. Took all of 10 minutes to trim a few branches.

It’s a lie. There is nothing “green” about so-called “green” energy.

I used to live in maryland (Home of the Lib Nitwits). Since escaping, I pay $.065 per KWH here in a “red” state. Free at last! Thank God, Free at last!

I would love to live in a “red” state. Unfortunately, I’d have to get divorced first (on second thought....).

Oh, but, but, if we pay more in taxes the climate will stabilize and it will be sunny every day, will only rain at night and temps will always be between 60 and 85 degrees and the oceans will retreat and we will all live happily ever after.

I wasn’t denigrating you personally. It was more a response toward those who are reflexively leftist with other people’s money. Their preference for theft should eventually bite them. Since the left captured the schools and began running them as indoctrination centers, too many aren’t even aware there little good that comes from government running everything. Hope the good guys can right the ship. You shouldn’t have to run away from home just to escape tyrannical doo-gooders.

Take a chill pill... I said: No sympathy for anyone living in long run liberal shxtholes.

If you’re in a conservative area in NJ then what’s your problem? California and New York have some nice conservative areas but the states sucks much like NJ. If you like where you live and will to deal with the state government’s screwing you over, fight away and have at it.

I live in a conservative state, in a conservative area but the cities are all liberal shxtholes and I’d never live in or near any of them by design. Personal choice.

My problem? You are one of the nicer, although a bit on the fringe. Some people seem to think I deserve this. I was born and raised here, have grand kids, etc. I’m not leaving.

Living on the lunatic fringe keeps other folks on their toes 🤣🤣🤣.

I was born in Maine, left 44 years ago, lived all over the country and world for that matter and will never go back. Beautiful state run by idiots. Ended up in Maryland for 30+ years do to the Navy and then work. Lived in a very conservative rural county but the state again was run by idiots. Retired and moved again and enjoying life in a remote rural area. One daughter and her family and grandkids moved from NH to be close to the wife and I. Our other daughter, family and grandkids still live in Maryland working where I used to, visit often and can’t wait to move.

Circumstances and choices.. personal choices.
