Lesson of RFK is how Democrats drive away their own voters
NY Post ^ | 8/24/24 | Jonathan Turley

The withdrawal of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. from the presidential race and his endorsement of former President Donald Trump was yet another extraordinary moment in an election that has been anything but predictable.

Only a year ago, it would have been unthinkable that a sitting president would be effectively forced off a ticket and replaced by a candidate who did not secure a single vote for president.

Now, the nephew of John F. Kennedy and son of the Robert F. Kennedy has not just withdrawn from the Democratic Party but endorsed the Republican nominee.

Amidst all of the claimed “joy” of the Democratic National Convention, there is a sobering reality that is being ignored by the ecstatic press and pundits: this is how Democrats make Republicans.

There is an old expression that “a conservative is a liberal who has been mugged.”

Irving Kristol explained the neoconservative movement was built by Democrats “mugged by reality.”

Kennedy has not become a Republican but rather joined the roughly half of Americans now identifying as independents. While this country is solidly under the hold of a duopoly of power in the two main parties, only 25% of the country identify as Democrats, and 25% as Republicans.

Kennedy’s departure from the Democrats has been mocked in the press. However, when he spoke on his withdrawal, many of us who have been lifetime members of the party identified with his remarks.

Unfortunately, we have too many brain-dead registered voters who don’t see what is plain right in front of our very eyes — Dems are now full Communists bent on creating the USSA.

On what planet was RFKjr running as a Democrat? His entire platform was the same deluded conspiratorial garbage that has animated to Trump base for the last four years. He was funded by Trump on the cynical expectation that Democrats were still so besotted with the Kennedy name that he could split the Democratic party. He has even had three wives one who died under mysterious circumstances. Once it was obvious that he was drawing more votes away from Trump than from Harris, they pulled the plug on the drug addicted loser.

Perhaps the ability to steal elections makes them feel that the voters just don’t matter.

Disagree. If that were true, Kamala would be in single digits. There are alot of stupid, single issue voters in this country.

Turley NAILED it.

But I would put a caveat that Turley didn’t mention.

They’re driving away the voters who are God-fearing and believe in the constitution.

I was impressed how RFK Jr. did not shy away from mentioning God and the constitution.

He may have referenced God more times in his speech than it was referenced in the four days of the DNC convention.

HOW is this sitting right with so many Democrats? Oh, that's right! Power and Party FIRST, America LAST! *SPIT*

Hey, Babbler, name the conspiracies that kept Trump supporters animated the past four years. Also, Babblehead, what money did Trump give RFK, Jr.?

Put up or shut up, Babbling Brook.

You nailed it pretty good!
Party first,
My change is, the Democrats put party before
“God, family, and country”.

Did the Demunists mention God ONCE in the four days of the DNC convention?

I’m sure “abortion” was mentioned 1,000 or more times.

Democrats have been lying to their own voters for most of a century, which has resulted in the smart ones leaving the party, since no one likes to be lied to.

The only people left that still call themselves Democrats are the dumbest of the dumb. Just talk try to converse with a Democrat voter on any subject and you will quickly see what I mean.

If by "they" you mean the Democrat Party, then they're all the happier. They want absolutely nothing to do with God or the Constitution!
