Coach Prime can’t take the heat.
The University of Colorado has informed the Denver Post that coach Deion Sanders will no longer answer questions from columnist Sean Keeler. Colorado attributed the decision to “a series of sustained, personal attacks” in Keeler’s coverage of the program.
Pressed for evidence to support the conclusion, a staff member in the Colorado sports information office said the Keeler has used phrases such as “false prophet,” “Deposition Deion,” “Planet Prime,” “Bruce Lee of B.S.,” “the Deion Kool-Aid” and “circus” in reference to Sanders and the program.
The fact that Colorado felt compelled to issue a statement to the Post is a surprise. Deion already froze Keeler out during a recent press conference, along with others from media outlets he has deemed to not be sufficiently compliant.
It really is a bunch of crap. Deion doesn’t want to be scrutinized, by anyone. He thinks the media covering the team should support the program, too. Without expressing any criticism or asking any tough questions. Even when criticism or tough questions are required.

I dont follow college ball at all. So the draft day is always an introction to a million new players every year :)
But I heard college football brings in a lot of bucks.
Don’t know if attendance goes down if you start losing, like in the NFL.
More people should be shutting out journalists.
If a journalist is going to call you every name in the book, why should you play nice with them?
This goes for politics as well as sports.
I like Deion. Throwing out the hatchetmen is a great idea.
It’s a tough decision: do you root for Deion? Or do you root for the journalist?
I don’t think that any coach or athlete should be obligated to talk to anyone in the MSM. If I lose a particularly important game, I don’t want some jackass sticking a microphone in front of my face for an interview.
Freedom of the Press be darned! Time was when being criticized and scrutinized was part of the deal. Thin skin doesn’t bode well for any leader worthy of being followed. The wise man takes the bricks others throw at him to build a strong foundation.
If he wins the he has every right and reason to crow. He hasn’t done it yet but there’s no price for being wrong when it comes to these people. Think Bill Clinton and Pete Rose.
If he loses there’s always pregame talk shows when he’s ‘let go’. If he wins Jerry Jones will hire him fast. It’s culture.
*It’s a tough decision: do you root for Deion? Or do you root for the journalist?*
Think 1988. Do you root for Saddam or the ayatollahs?
If the journalist is there asking questions about sports or the job Sanders is doing, fine.
If he is using his sports journalist position to make personal attacks then it is understandable why Sanders won’t talk to him.
*I don’t think that any coach or athlete should be obligated to talk to anyone in the MSM.*
That one’s easy. All publicity is good and the powers that be will inject stupid stuff like interviews between quarters as well as athletes half our age telling us what we don’t need to hear. Sideline reporters following up one stupid question with another. Howard Cosell drawing women out of the kitchen and into the living room watching his MNF BS.
Think pop ups on the web. Headlines that are click-bait. Anybody remember ring around the collar?
The press’ freedom has not been damaged. The guy can still write whatever he wants. Deion just ain’t talking to him, which is part of HIS freedom.
Deion poured water over reporter Tim Carver. So did Denny McLain. Which one got away with it?
*Deion just ain’t talking to him, which is part of HIS freedom.*
No. It’s not his freedom. It’s his job to talk to the press-all of them. If he doesn’t it’s because his bosses are afraid of him.
His job includes talking to THE press. Not necessarily THAT guy. Big difference.
“Deion thinks the media covering the team should support the program without expressing any criticism or asking any tough questions.”
Who does Deion think he is...? The Democrat Party?
Don’t get into a fight with a man who buys ink by the barrel…old saying that still rings true. The reporter can and most likely will keep writing about Neon Dieon.
I see the two sides as the University and the MSM. The University doesn’t want someone making personal attacks against their employee. How often have University employees in the classrooms and in publications personally attacked someone they disagree with such as Christians, conservatives, scientists who question the official narrative, etc.? The problem is the MSM can’t effectively point out the hypocrisy because they do the same thing, and they are almost always on the same side as the University.
I’m sure he will. Why did the University find it necessary to make a statement. Just don’t answer any of his questions. This points to Deion trying to swing back at the reporter and publicly humiliate him. Seems petty.
