Mpox has been declared a public health emergency by the World Health Organization in response to a new, potentially deadlier strain of the virus circulating in Africa.
On Thursday, the first case of this new variant was detected outside the continent, in Sweden. So what does this mean for vaccinations? Do they still work against the new variant? And do you need a booster? Newsweek spoke to experts to find out.
Mpox, formerly known as monkeypox, gained recognition during the global outbreak in 2022, affecting the U.S., Europe, Australia and many other countries. The virus comes in two "flavors"—clade I and clade II—and spreads through close contact.
The previous outbreak in the U.S. and Europe was driven by the clade II form of the virus and was mostly spread through sexual and intimate contact, with men who have sex with men being at the highest risk of infection. However, the current surge in Africa is being driven by a new variant of the clade I virus, called clade Ib, that is thought to cause more severe disease than previous variants.
Since the beginning of 2023, more than 22,000 cases of mpox are believed to have occurred in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), with more than 1,200 deaths. This has likely been driven by the clade Ib variant, which has also spread to neighboring Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda and now Sweden.
"The clade 1b case in Sweden is a warning call for public health authorities to be vigilant and implement robust surveillance and contact-tracing strategies to detect possible new cases early on," said Jonas Albarnaz, a research fellow specializing in pox viruses at the U.K.'s Pirbright Institute, which specializes in infectious disease research.

It’s not a vaccine. It’s another m-RNA jab for the MPOX virus and of course, Pfizer is leading the pathetic pack of wolves that want to inject this into your body. It’s only spread by body fluids, homosexual and heterosexual sex. This virus is not airborne like the covid virus.
Probably the same horrid mixture, just re-labled ... and, expired!! 😱
This malady comes mostly to those who ignore Leviticus 18.
It does state that it is spread through close contact, though that broad term is not explained in detail. They do state it in a convoluted way so as to try and draw attention away from how clade II variants are typically spread (gay anal sex being the most likely candidate for contracting the disease).

Anytime, “Here’s the score” or “Here’s what you need to know” is used in a headline, gaslighting of an especially egregious nature is guaranteed to follow.
Here’s the deal. Get your monkeypox vaccine along with 10 boosters or stop having sex with fellow queers!

I have a friend who has a boy and 2 daughters. The oldest daughter worked at a hospital during Covid and had to get the jabs. I don’t know how many she took?
The younger daughter, who is now 19, was indoctrinated by her public school, and went and got many of the jabs against her parents concerns. The rest of the family did not get a jab.
Fast forward 3.5 years. The nurse is no longer able to work and is very sick. She has cancer. The 19 year old girl has thyroid cancer that is rapidly spreading, and she is not doing well too.
The rest of the family who did not take the jabs. Well they are fine other than dealing with what happened to the daughters.
These B.S. emergencies will never end unless people do not comply. You cannot comply yourself out of tyranny.

given there’s a very small supply of monkey pox vaccines anyway, and it’s not airborne, don’t swap body fluids with homo- or bisexual individuals, stay away from people with pox blisters, and stay out of San Francisco which has high indicators in the waste water. Easy Peasy

No the two current Mpox vaccines are not MRNA they are dead virus of a related type of orthopox and where made for smallpox not Mpox. Fortunately all the orthopox virus share protein coats and immunity to one gives a good amount to all the others. And no chicken pox is not the same family nor protein coat so having chicken pox which is in the herpes simplex family gives zero immunity to an orthopox. Just because it has pox at the end doesn’t make it the same family. A pox describes the skin sores they look similar but completely different species of virus.
Clade 1/1b have been spreading skin to skin without sex in Africa. 60% or the cases in the DRC are children under 15. So that clade is not the buttstuff clade that’s clade II
