Teri York-Singleton is certain about one thing as she considers the November election: She will not vote for Donald J. Trump.
Ms. York-Singleton, who runs a nonprofit outside Detroit, grew up in a Democratic household but considers herself more of a political independent. And while she finds Vice President Kamala Harris’s sudden entry in the presidential race refreshing, Ms. Harris has not closed the sale for her.
“I need more information from her,” said Ms. York-Singleton, 68. She listed the costs of medication and child care as well as homelessness as problems she wants to hear Ms. Harris discuss. “People are working two to four jobs just to afford rent,” she added.
There is no doubt that Ms. Harris has lit a fire inside the Democratic Party. She is drawing tens of thousands of fans to her rallies and raising hundreds of millions of dollars. A poll released last week by the Pew Research Center found that Ms. Harris has erased the enthusiasm gap between Democrats and Republicans: 62 percent of Harris voters now say they strongly support her, compared with 43 percent of Biden voters who expressed strong support for him in July. Among former President Trump’s supporters, 64 percent characterized their backing for him as strong.
But even to many voters who lean toward the Democratic ticket, the vice president remains largely undefined. And they are not as enamored with her as those flocking to see her speak. “She’s famous, but she’s unknown,” said Cornell Belcher, a Democratic strategist and pollster.

Yes I’m sure all 35 undecided voters left in the country can think of nothing but getting more info on Kammie. 😆
the MSM will tell them everything the MSM thinks they want to hear. It won’t be true, but they will tell them nonetheless.
Expecially 68 yr olds worried about the cost of childcare
Get a bottle of grey goose and you can feel like her
This is why it’s so important Trump, Vance, and the GOP surrogates do everything possible to make sure everyone knows about her radical statements, her record of failure, and how her wild flip-flopping makes her untrustworthy. A lot of Trump haters will never vote for him, but if Trump can break through the media protection of Kamala and let the public know what’s she’s really like and what her record really is, then he can convince a lot of people not to vote for her either.
A big part of her polling increase seems to be from previously third-party supporters who didn’t want Biden who now think Kamala is OK. Our side needs to make sure that they realize she is not OK at all. Trump and all the Pubbies need to constantly tie her in with the Biden-Harris administration failures, highlighting her tie-breaking votes, personal disaster at the border, and her own statements. People have to know that voting Harris only means a continuation or worsening of all the problems we currently have. The vast majority of people think we are on the wrong track. If they realize Kamala was a big part of putting us on that wrong track, they will not vote for her.
We cannot allow the media and her Obama/Biden campaign handlers to get away with creating a brand new, imaginary version of Kamala. Trump, Vance, and the rest have been better lately at fighting back effectively than when the elites first appointed her the nominee, but a lot more needs to be done.
NYT: “You say you’re voting for Harris? Oh, good. You’ve made a good decision. …And you say you’re voting for Trump? Oh. I see you’re…still undecided.”
Hogwash. This gal already said she isn’t voting for Trump so it doesn’t matter what Kamala says or doesn’t say about what she stands for.
Her decision is made and this artical is bullshit.
article, sorry.
Do you honestly think this person is an independent and doesn’t know who she is voting for? Sounds a little too virtuous to me (look at me, I’m an independent, I’m a free thinker-no one tells me who to vote for, I need facts to make an informed decision)...blah blah blah. She’s a diehard dem, period.
They want leftist propaganda, and we at the New York Times are just the people to give it to them.
It is unfortunate that this person is so brainwashed by the dishonest-crats.
The precious “undecided voters” are imbeciles. Can’t sugarcoat it. If you can’t decide at this stage, you shouldn’t be allowed to vote.
It doesn’t really matter if the woman in the article is 100% determined to vote for Kamala yet or not; she still illustrates an important point. The polling data suggests there are a fair amount people who previously wanted Kennedy or possibily Stein who have for the time being gravitated over to Kamala. There also used to be less excitement and more left-of-center types who were just going to sit the presidential election out.
These people didn’t like Biden, but they only have vague ideas about Kamala. It’s our side’s job to make sure these people understand that Kamala is actually worse than Biden and also guilty of all the failures of the Biden-Harris administration. If we don’t do that effectively, then she will get a lot of votes just on her “vibes” and “joy” by people who have no idea what they are actually getting.
To the New York Times, patriotism is famous, but unknown.
Vance can say he’s had experience with substance abuse and he knows her type.
She is "Famous" (infamous) for ONE thing - Willie Brown's thing. Believe me, voters DON'T want to "learn more."
Yes, that’s exactly right.
Absolutely not. She’s a dyed in the wool Trump hating Democrat. She wants us to think she voted for Biden Harris without knowing anything about Harris ? Her #1 goal in 2020 was to get Trump out of office. Her #1 goal in 2024 is to keep Trump out of office. It’s irrelevant who the figurehead Democrat on the ticket is. She will vote Democrat and that’s a given.
