I've been a fan of watching YouTube accounts of Near Death Experiences lately. There are certain common elements:
Various neuroscientists have stated that simple biological processes of death produce these effects. Maybe the tunnel and the light can be explained by this, but the rest? No way. I cannot think that mere biological processes could manifest such a detailed series of accounts. Nor is there any evolutionary benefit to these processes, obviously... you are dead, right? Evolution is highly unlikely to be a factor here.
So this, to me, seems like quasi-scientific proof of a God. Now, religions have added all sorts of nonsense around these concepts, since almost to a person, the subject of an NDE describes a God that is utterly nonjudgemental and loving. So, take the 10 Commandments: Seems like the 10 Commandments were written to make OUR lives better, and it is not some cosmic scorecard that God is judging us on.
One person I know personally that had an NDE, would not talk a lot about it, but the one thing he did relate is that 'all the nonsense religion spouts? The beings on the other side, they don't care. Just be loving.'
And that aligns with what Jesus said: To love God with all your heart, and to love your fellow man.
Done, sir!
Done.
Glory to God. Also wrote a book: Donald Whitaker - Divine Connection: Feel Better and Live Longer (Revised) (1983-06-22) [Paperback] https://www.amazon.com/Donald-Whitaker-Connection-1983-06-22-Paperback/dp/B001UQ3B4K
Much thanks!
For those who interpret the Bible as being exact and not having multiple possible interpretations, I pose 1 Timothy 2:11-15
11 A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. 12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man;she must be quiet.
Do I believe this scripture to be the absolute truth and not open to additional understanding? NO.
I apply that same reasoning to Hebrews 9:27.
First, the authorship of the Epistle to the Hebrews is unknown. It has been unknown and challenged by early Bible scholars such as Origen. It is generally agreed that it was not Paul.
Second, Hebrews 9:27-28 are the last scriptures in Hebrews 9. It is vrry possible that they were added by a scribe.
Supporting that opinion is the fact that Hebrews 9:27-28 were not included in the earliest manuscripts. They ended at Hebrews 9:26.
While I am not a fan of Bart Ehrman, much of his scholarship is excellent. He also questions whether Hebrews should be included in the cannon.
While comparing other scriptures such as those stating that John the Baptist was Elijah returned, this scripture does not fit.
The word “die” as originally written was the same word used other times in scripture to mean “die daily” and not die a physical death. Thus that leaves a door open.
Finally, my own eyes and direct observation and experience contradicts the common interpretation of Hebrews 9:27.
God recycles.
Would rather have Joseph Smith?
Oh?
Then what DOES the Greek say?
O...
K...
Well...
1 Corinthians 2:9
Rather, as it is written: “ No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no heart has imagined, what God has prepared for those who love Him.”
I can't speak for the rest of you, but for me...
Jeremiah 17:9 kjv
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
“I’m still waiting to have a Near Life Experience”,
says over 64 million little, silenced voices.
Thank you very much I will check that out later hopefully. Good description I think of how the mind works, storing info, recalling it when things go awry etc. The brain can be essentially dead yet stil. Retain a “spark” so to speak
No,painter I am not giving Satan more power than God. Please read my comments carefully- I explained that not all experiences of bright light are Satan’s work- and made it clear that I do beleive some is genuine.
Wow- I think you are right, that God intervened in her life to console her. Powerful experience!
Thank you for your thoughts on the issue.
[[but I believe there are times when our soul detachment is so extremely pushed to the forefront by some severe physical trauma or bodily shutdown and then what is always at work around us may become perceptible or even very briefly interactive]]
I would say thay explains pretty well the weird disconnectedness i felt when I was sent to the outer darkness- it was an experience that is really hard to put into words, and would seem to contradict what we know to be true (ie, I “didn’t 3xist” BUT i was frightfully aware somehow of extreme isolation and knew it was for eternity, and the finality of it was the most frightening part of the whole experience
Regardless...
islam is a satanic death cult that worships satan - aka "allah".
Their Koran handbook demands the murder of all those who do not kneel before satan/allah.
Even Ray Charles can see that reality...and he's blind and dead!
I will however state emphatically that noone has gone to heaven and seen God and come back to life for the bible clearly states that noone has seen God’s face and lived. That I do not have to have personal experience with to know to be true- it’s a bibliCal truth.
This is so easy to prove in demonstrations with people. When I read the details of a total stranger’s soul without them saying one word, it freaks them out. I do this with academic researchers, PhD’s and MD’s.
I then explain the neuroscience of it and how the human soul connects and communicates with the physical body. It’s easy to understand when you can see and feel it. Problem is, small minds can’t comprehend it. The expansion of consciousness that happens with awakening and transcendence not only allows for the mind to process and grasp more information at one time, but also process it much faster.
The other thing with transcendence is that the thoughts of others exist within you. When I sit in Grand Rounds at the hospital with over a hundred Dr’s, I can feel their consciousness influencing my consciousness just being near them. The human soul at its smallest point is 30 ft in diameter. Thus, if I am within 60 ft of their physical body, our souls overlap. I can learn much of their knowledge just by being near them as knowledge is not private. There is no such thing as a secret.
If the Bible told you the earth was flat, would you believe it? Yet the church persecuted Galileo in 1633 for stating that the earth was round. Just because the majority of the church believes something does not make it true.
A couple, of other folks were also raised from the dead in the bible- God is certainly able-
Add me to it too pl3ase. Always interested in the topic and people’s experiences.
