I won’t comment on the study, but Autism seems to be a “catch-all” diagnosis for schools and children’s health “professionals” now.
My two young nephews were diagnosed with “autism.” They are very active boys, love being outside, love taking things apart. The eight-year old helped my brother in law disassemble and re-assemble a portable generator, and loved it.
Its difficult for them to sit in school for 7 hours. They fidget, talk too much, get bored, etc... So of course teachers are bothered by them.
both were diagnosed by the school with “autism”. To me they seem like normal boys. anyway, now they are going to be home-schooled.
That was me in the 60's..................
Yes, schools want boys to act like girls. It’s criminal.
So, naturally, being a boy who has a problem functioning in a girl-oriented classroom is going to be diagnosed as a problem student i.e. autism, ADD, whatever.
Homeschooling is a smart choice.
“Autism seems to be a “catch-all” diagnosis for schools..”
Probably right. The teachers and school administrators seem to be slackers. God forbid that they might have to actually DO something to help kids who might need extra attention because they fall above or below the “norm”.
It’s the same reason a lot of nurses request the graveyard shift. They can just read, sleep, or cruise the net.
