Here's the truth: He indeed spent 24 years as an enlisted soldier in the Minnesota National Guard. As far as I can tell, he deployed once to Italy and once to Norway. But when it was finally his turn to deploy in the actual Global War on Terror, Walz instead chose his own aspirations over leadership. In a letter posted to Facebook in 2018, veterans from his unit said Walz retired from the National Guard after learning his battalion would be deployed to Iraqโthough he assured his troops he would join them.

Here is Tim Walz on CSPAN back in 2007 on his military service

Your military opinion counts as much as John Kerry’s.
AKA coward.
.
From another article: “He weighed that decision to run for Congress very heavy. He loved the military, he loved the Guard, he loved the soldiers he worked with.”

As the senior enlisted man in the unit you don’t leave your unit when they’re scheduled to deploy. As part of accepting the rank of Command Sergeant Major I believe there was a 3 year commitment to stay in the guard. IMHO he failed the men of his unit.
Not sure of the rules of any upcoming VP debate yet, but Vance needs to bring those guys to sit up front and center to gaze at Timmy, as he becomes indignant and inevitably lies about it.
He’s the kind that are ripe for fragging.๐
What did the Soldiers in the unit think when their Sergeant Major abandoned them?
He doesnโt even deserve to call himself a Soldier.
Heโs just another one who wanted the money and the perks and then slipped on out when it might get tough.
Does anyone know what he was doing to make a living at the time?
You don’t get it. John Kerry was a combat veteran. Just ask him. So was Blumenthal in where ios it? Somewhere in New England-doesn’t hurt him.
In 2003, I had a soldier under me that stated he was an only child, and if he got orders to deploy for combat he would get out of it on that condition.
Me? I snapped. I informed this POS that it wouldn’t be him they call to serve, but the uniform. And that he volunteered to wear said uniform. Furthering, “If you don’t want to adhere to your oath, I’ll take you to the commander right now and find another, more dedicated soldier to fill your uniform!”
Amazingly, he slumped sadly looking at the floor.
This is the so called Gov Walz.
I’m with you on this, Chief.
What’s that supposed to mean? I don’t see an opinion rendered by Janet?
I am dumb when it comes to the National Guard.... Was his unit a combat unit?
“Vance needs to bring those guys to sit up front and center to gaze at Timmy”
Exactly like when Trump had the front row filled with women Bill had sexually harassed and/or raped. It was meant to throw Hillary off her game, which I believe it did to some extent.
Apparently he was in a field artillery unit, so goes, it was a combat unit. However, when they deployed to Italy, it was to relieve some non-combat units (no combat in Italy).
They interviewed the guy who replaced him on the deployment.
Let’s just say he doesn’t like Walz too much
What I would like to know is how he kept his career after the DUI? It has been over 30 years since I was in the Army but in my day a DUI was the kiss of death for an officer or an NCO. If one was not given an Article 15 and chaptered out of the service one could at least count on never being promoted. How was he able to re-enlist, be made a 1SG and then be made an acting CSM? Must be some National Guard politics involved.
I had a few that pulled similar stunts trying to get out of deployments. If they wouldn’t deploy when eligible I ensured they were put into a voluntary service non-paid billet. Some of the orders were to easy places, too, like Gitmo. One threw a fit because his wife couldn’t accompany him there, and they just got married when he got his orders thinking she could go, but they were solo orders. Some people are real ****birds.
Walz sure has already embarrassed himself with his blatant lies... Of course since he’s a democrat he’s probably not even capable of any shame.
