I will admit to being clueless about programing at that level, my teenage adventures with BASIC notwithstanding, but can’t Boeing send them the program? Granted it would probably take a while but not eight months.

Granted it would probably take a while but not eight months. You can't test software in space. You can, but something always goes wrong the first number of times. A failure in space is death.

I heard they’re afraid the software update has a risk of bricking the Starliner, and they’d not be able to easily remove it from the docking port then. Of course, maybe that’s not true, unless they’re using H1Bs for their software.
