#50T -- "Solsbury Hill" by Peter Gabriel ... Click Here (Rumble version)
Just pinging some FR music regulars here. :-)
Can’t really go wrong with Peter Gabriel
#1 on my playlist is a song the kids in children's church at my old church used to beg for years ago. I didn't lead children's church every Sunday because I rotated with two other adults. But every time I was there they'd "talk me into" playing the song if they could quote that month's Bible verse.
I got tired of the song. And I wound up parting ways with that church when I learned that my donation money was going to abortion and gay lobbyists (United Methodist) and there was no way to talk them out of it.
That changed when I learned a year and a half ago that the young adults (the ones I remember as kids) were the main voice in that Methodist church breaking away from the hedonist UMC conference and joining the more Bible based new conference. I couldn't be prouder! And I'm glad I have that song digitally or I would have worn it slap out as either vinyl or tape with as much as I've played it since then. LOL
Well I don't care
what some may say
gonna stand up for the Lord today.
Well I don't care
if they all known
gonna let the Lord's redeemed say so.
Gonna say it loud.
Gonna say it proud.
I...I love the Lord!
Interesting activity. My plays depend entirely on my mood. If I’m driving, I want upbeat extremely energetic stuff, like “Highway Star” or “Speed King” or “Welcome to the Pleasuredome.” If I’m just toodling around and want peace, I put on Dave Brubeck Quartet. If I want spiritual uplift, Michael W. Smith or the “WOW Christian Greatest Hits of 2003.”
And if I’m feeling suicidal, Depeche MOde.
Thanks for including me in this. Lately I have had a mind to post a rant r.e. Apple Music. First world problem but . . .
1.) Over 5,000 songs in my library, but shuffle seems unable to get past a few hundred at best.
2.) The app stops arbitrarily.
3.) Apple tries to pass off covers as if they are originals.
4.) The app arbitrarily goes out of shuffle mode.
Those off the top of my head.
Still, to be able to shuffle songs is a luxury I did not have growing up.
That whole album is fantastic. Moribund The Burgermeister is probably the most Genesis-like song Gabriel did during his solo career.
I have about 45,000 tracks in my Apple Music library and have several crates of CDs and cassettes from the 70s and beyond that still need conversion to MP4. That's a retirement task but will look forward to exporing those cassettes as I used to do a lot of taping off the radio in those days. For example, the week that John Lennon was shot in 1980, I taped almost 100 hours of Beatles tributes that aired on Boston radio during that period. Also a lot of Christmas shows from that period. Looking forward to exploring some of those at some later time.
I've been contemplating making the switch to Spotify as Apple Music has a lot of drawbacks in my opinion, but I'm so locked into the Apple world that it might not be worth the effort. I'm just hoping that Apple Music overcomes those deficiencies over time .
For example, the play count does not transfer correctly from my other devices. It drives me crazy. I could listen to a new album on my iPhone several times before the play count starts showing up on Apple Music, if at all. If I play music from my home computer, the play count works perfectly but just does not capture all my plays from external devices.
