Researchers have found an over-the-counter natural health product may help counteract negative effects of heavy cannabis use among adolescents aged 12 to 17, including depression, anxiety and diminished motivation in adulthood.
Marta De Felice and Steven Laviolette demonstrated in animal models that interventions using antioxidant N-acetylcysteine (NAC) can mitigate the detrimental mental health effects of chronic cannabis use later in life.
Sometimes referred to as "amotivational syndrome," chronic cannabis use in adolescents can result in a lack of motivation, diminished enjoyment from daily activities and other depressive effects. Currently, there is no known intervention strategy available.
The study found that NAC—an amino acid also known for its antioxidant properties and support for respiratory and liver health—effectively counteracts oxidative stress, caused by an imbalance of unstable atoms that can damage cells and antioxidants which can lead a variety of diseases. NAC also reduces high levels of glutamate, an excitatory neurotransmitter which sends chemical signals from neurons to cells.
Researchers tested the effectiveness of NAC in animal models. According to De Felice, the results showed NAC acts as a protective agent by neutralizing oxidative stress and regulating levels of glutamate to preserve the normal function of the part of the brain known as nucleus accumbens.
"The nucleus accumbens is a region of the brain that regulates mood disorders and addiction and is responsible for motivated behaviors," said De Felice.
By normalizing the function and activity of this brain region, the researchers believe it potentially prevented the development of the depressive and anxiety phenotype—genes which are responsible for these traits.
"One of the exciting things is that we've identified one of the important mechanisms behind that phenomenon by pinpointing an increase in oxidative stress and glutamate toxicity in the brain," said Laviolette, professor in the department of anatomy and cell biology.

What were its effects on you? And what dosage do you recommend?
Re esophageal backup:
Have run across research in the past that suggested that some parts of the issue can be due to insufficient bodily enzymes, condition almost endemic after age 40 in western diets, particularly bad in the obese and/or those whom indulge in “fast food” or processed foods regularly, i.e. most of us.
Had a one such person age 70 clinically obese, fast-food junkie (a pastor, oddly enough) who suffers from Barrat’s esophagus and gave him a bottle of high-count enzymes (this brand was a Puritan’s Pride high enzyme product which is constantly out of stock) and he began to take two with every meal. He received relief while he took this, as his body was now able to digest his food more completely before lying down and having undigested food come up into his throat (my surmise)
When he ran out of the enzymes, he began to have the stomach acid back up into his throat again. I gave him a less potent product of the same line (remember, the high-count stuff was out of stock again, so the dose was six tabs instead of two) and it was not as effective, probably because he was less willing to take the six tab dose.
I take enzymes after particularly heavy meals, and receive relief. Another case example of enzyme use is specific milk enzymes for lactose-intolerance, in which the body does not itself produce milk-digesting enzymes. This allows lactose-intolerant individuals to ingest milk products.
There is a Swanson enzyme product which is so effective, that you should only take one. Two different persons took two and became nauseus, which apparently indicates that you took too much for the job, IDK why. (re: Dr. Hulda Clark)
My man, you misunderstand my comment. OF COURSE I did stupid stuff as a kid; we all did, and likely most did this. My comment was directed at those who continue to do stupid stuff, as was the original post. Happenstance poor judgement is easily understandable - repeated poor judgement, not so much. Being a stupid pothead requires dedication to failure, which is where my comment was directed.
Do you know the cause of the issue.
May I ask what did it help improve in your life?
Just read Reddit about combined effect of antidepressants and THC products….
Gotcha. Thx.

Take this to stop that or don’t take that in the first place duh.
Hi, my particular condition has little to do with food or digesting food as it can happen on a totally empty stomach. The esophageal sphincter closes or mostly closes and won’t relax. It is true that if there is excess stomach acid it makes things even worse but that isn’t the primary cause .
Possibly chronic overuse of ibuprofen. And it is highly stress related.
Perhaps examine these possibilities at Earthclinic.com to see if anything here may provide some relief:

Thanks, I read them. Really, I can’t sip anything while this is going on because of hypersalivation and inability to swallow. The only thing that somewhat works is sublingual absorption. Fortunately, an endoscopy did not show eosinophilic esophagitis.
Ah. Sorry. Adding a couple more in hopes of assisting:
adding hypersalivation:

and inability to swallow (this one got weirdly huge) :
best to you, N.
but the big $$$$$ weed industry waltzes in and forget all that crap about health....
and now we have to think up ways to counteract it....
my country..
what negative effects?? pft.
