Like movies with a track for director’s comments this one could have “Dumb dog” triggered him to say “I may be a dog but I ain’t a dumb dog.”
And “Raid was used because the woman knew it was the best brand to get rid of a pest, like her.”

Swinging the broom was like two scenes.

Friendly Persuasion with Gary Cooper where Dorothy McGuire despite being a nonviolent Quaker hits the thugs repeatedly with a broom when they could have decided on a whim to rape and kill her and her family.

And The Owl and the Pussycat with Barbra Streisand and George Segal where Segal is dressed as a Halloween skeleton to please Streisand, and people in the hall panic. Old woman says of her husband holding a broom menacingly: “He’s got a broom and he’s not afraid to use it.”
