I’ll just say don’t fall for the spam blocker software companies. They are mostly just junk. And they block calls you want to get too many times.

Something tells me that there is a rash of Unknown Caller calls today. I have received 4 today alone. I accept the call, and they just hang up. I try to block, but this current version of Android works differently, and I cannot seem to block the calls. I am going to research this further, but would like any advice anyone might have regarding this. Good luck.

Spam callers have so many numbers you just can’t block them all. My Verizon android phone does pick up some, labeled “potential spam”, but they still ring.

To block unknown callers on an Android phone, you can use the Block unknown callers feature in the Settings menu:
Open the Phone app
Tap the three dots at the top of the screen
Select Settings
Tap Block numbers
Toggle the Block unknown callers button to green

Can anyone suggest an app to block unknown callers on my android phone please?

Do you really want to block the police when they try to call you if your wife or family member was just taken to the hospital ER?

Do you really want to block Publisher's Clearing House when they call you to inform you that you just won their million dollars?

Just don't answer the phone. If someone really wants to talk to you, they will leave a message. If a message isn't left and it's a number you don't recognize, just block it.

Smart phones aren't perfect, you just have to deal with the calls with the available tools you have.

I get as many as 35 calls a day, spam calls, asking whether I want to make final arrangements for my solar panels that have been involved in an accident during the last two years.

I’ve been using the Mr. Number app for years. Works great. Will allow calls in your contacts list and filters other calls through it’s database of user reported numbers to block.

Tracfone’s have an app called Call Detector that works. It isn’t 100%, however.

I just do not answer a number I don’t recognize. If it is important, they will leave a voice mail. Sometimes even spammers will leave a voice mail.

Just don’t answer. They’ll eventually give up.

I got a lot of "potential spam" calls. I tell them to call back with real spam.

Just turn the “Do Not Disturb” feature on, and use the option where only numbers in your Contacts are allowed to get through. The phone won’t ring for any other number. If it’s legit, they’ll leave a message.

All my contacts have a ring tone.
The default ring is usually a scam call.
I block them all and it keeps the scam calls to a minimum.

what i could find...

What happens when you block unknown numbers on Android?
Block unknown numbers

This will block calls from **private or unidentified** numbers. You will still receive calls from phone numbers that are not stored in your contacts.

Unknown Caller means something different from No Caller ID, which indicates someone intentionally hid their identity. If you see the Unknown Caller label when your phone rings, it means your phone service provider doesn’t recognize who is trying to reach you.Oct 6, 2023
