Tracfone’s have an app called Call Detector that works. It isn’t 100%, however.

I just do not answer a number I don’t recognize. If it is important, they will leave a voice mail. Sometimes even spammers will leave a voice mail.

Just don’t answer. They’ll eventually give up.

I got a lot of "potential spam" calls. I tell them to call back with real spam.

Most junk calls seem to come from RNC Hq. Give them a buck and they are your best friend forever..

Just turn the “Do Not Disturb” feature on, and use the option where only numbers in your Contacts are allowed to get through. The phone won’t ring for any other number. If it’s legit, they’ll leave a message.

All my contacts have a ring tone.
The default ring is usually a scam call.
I block them all and it keeps the scam calls to a minimum.

If the call displays a number then its hard to block it on a stock android without a lot of work to construct white lists.
I have never done it.

Yeah I feel your agony.

What I’ve done is put the phone on silent notifications and then check list of calls and Voice mail every so often. If they aren’t in my contacts and didn’t leave a VM then tough luck to them. ha ha

Are you sure that your really need your computer?

People lived just fine for many decades before their advent.

I answer and hang up. That way they canโ€™t leave a voice mail.
If you have Verizon, they have a call filter app. You can pick the types of calls you want blocked.

There is no law that says you have to answer your phone.

I learned this as a corollary to what I learned in the Census:

There is no law that says you have to answer your door.

I know it’s just annoying.

My phone is supposed to be able to filter calls by just the area code and THAT doesn’t even work.

You don’t need the cellphone. If you have an emergency, just find the nearest payphone and make the call.

Oh, wait...

Hereโ€™s the problem: Before their advent, everyone else lived differently. There were payphones all over the place. Little League moms would assume you have at least texting l, if not facebook. The bank website requires dual factor authentication often requiring a smartphone. etc

I was talking with a friend last week and mentioned another friend’s granddaughter went to Nashville. A couple of hours later I got a phone call from Tennessee. We have absolutely zero privacy in this country now. I’m sure all of you have had something similar happen. These people are listening to our phone calls.

what i could find...

What happens when you block unknown numbers on Android?
Block unknown numbers

This will block calls from **private or unidentified** numbers. You will still receive calls from phone numbers that are not stored in your contacts.

Unknown Caller means something different from No Caller ID, which indicates someone intentionally hid their identity. If you see the Unknown Caller label when your phone rings, it means your phone service provider doesn’t recognize who is trying to reach you.Oct 6, 2023
