what passes for science in a post-Christian world.
Godless fools.
my ancestors loved mushrooms on their mastodon burgers
Terence McKenna ping (sort of)
Anything but the hand of almighty God.
Got it.
So, Eve gave Adam a magic mushroom and not an apple?
In my experience, this could possibly make sense, in moderation, over 10s of thousands of years.
Everyone searches for meaning, none more so than the atheist who doesn’t believe intelligent design but believes in everything else, especially the divinity of government (when run by democrats).

Only God knows the origin of consciousness.
It’s astonishing that, for millions of years, neither a sheep nor goat nor insect has taken a bite of this magic mushroom, and catalyzed consciousness. People are so lucky.
Sorry folks, it wasn’t an apple that was “the tree of knowledge”, it was a shroom.
McKenna’s a lunatic and it’s fun reading these silly articles to see things like
“ These ‘significant neurological and psychological effects’ may have been the catalase ancient ancestors to interact with each other and the environment - spurring consciousness among our species..”
Catalase is an enzyme. The author means catalyst.
I do agree that drugs that alter consciousness, and there are many, including psilocin mentioned here, are useful in consciousness studies.
Sounds like Lysenkoism. Which may be appropriate, since we are now a Stalinist society.
Joe Rogan is just a low-end regurgitator of other people’s ideas and an entertainer. McKenna, the original proponent of the above ideas on the other hand was a truly brilliant man and philosophical polymath. That said, forum discussions in these areas always seem to devolve into the intellectual equivalent of beer belches.
“Scientists say” = real science.
Hey guys, they put the “science” stamp on it, so you have to jump on board.
You don’t want to be one of those dummies that doesn’t “follow the science,” do you?
I’m surprised nobody’s set up lab experiments feeding magic mushrooms to monkeys to see what happens. Or Biden, if monkeys aren’t available.
These regions are responsible for decision-making, problem-solving and reasoning skills.
Apparently Ravens eat magic mushrooms.
