The Republican Party Has a Split-Personality Problem
The New York Times ^ | July 20, 2024, 7:00 a.m. ET | David French

There is a paradox at the heart of Donald Trump’s campaign, a potentially irreconcilable divide that could damage his potential new presidency right from the start.

The people who would make Trump president want different things from him, and those differences present political perils for Trump and also make it difficult to predict the contours of his second term. It could be just as extreme as millions of Americans rightly fear or it could be more moderate — with the deciding factor being Trump’s own sense of self-interest and personal grievance. And when Trump’s emotions ultimately dictate policy, it’s fair for Americans to be concerned about worst-case outcomes.

As we have all learned, Trump’s most enthusiastic supporters have become deeply radicalized, convinced that the nation is on the verge of extinction, in need of revolution. Even worse, they feel personally persecuted by a “uniparty” or “regime” that supposedly despises them and rejects their values. They want disruptive change, and if violence is necessary, so be it. As the president of the Heritage Foundation, Kevin Roberts, put it recently, our country is “in the process of the second American Revolution, which will remain bloodless if the left allows it to be.”

The Heritage Foundation is arguably America’s most powerful and influential right-wing think tank, and Roberts said those words on “War Room,” the podcast hosted by a former Trump adviser, Stephen K. Bannon. Bannon, however, didn’t host the interview. He’d reported to prison the day before to serve a four-month sentence for contempt of Congress. Before he entered the prison, he hosted a circuslike news conference that featured a who’s who of MAGA cranks and ideologues.

Bannon sounded the same themes as Roberts. “Victory or death,” he declared. “We either win or we’re going to have the death...”

Yes, but he CALLED HIMSELF a blank slate ... “I can be whatever you want me to be.”

I can still remember when the NYT reported news. By definition, news is what happened or is happening. Now, the NYT is just an op-ed rag posing as a newspaper. It’s mission is to promote its agenda, not report the news. That’s exactly why I no longer read the NYT or care what it has to say, since it’s always a Leftist opinion in which I have no interest at all.

“Even worse, they feel personally persecuted by a “uniparty” or “regime” that supposedly despises them and rejects their values. “

Every word of that is true. There is a uniparty, and it is fully loyal to free trade, woke, globalism and globohomo.
They are a “regime” because they have gained power by assassinations, coups, election theft, subterfuge, and intelligence agencies putting their thumb on the scale.

They do despise normal America and it’s needs, values and interests. They work to pervert our children, push atheism, homosexuality, tranny perversions, kill the middle class, kill cheap energy, flood our country with illegal aliens from the entire world, and to impoverish us through inflation and job/industry loss.
I cannot think if the last government move that was designed to do nothing but improve the wellbeing, life and interests of normal legacy Americans.

They hate us... and now we hate them. That is just how it is.

Parents were not protesting either. They merely made pointed political statements about the government teaching 1st graders about blowjobs and anal sex. They said it right to the school board’s faces. And the government up to the FBI level investigated them, city police often wrestled them down right from the podium and hauled them off to jail. Other school boards began counterintelligence operations against parents.

These parents were protecting their young children from honest to god government perverts who would have faced arrest as though they were a street perv at the playground as recently as the early 90s.

This one nationwide truth tells you all you need to know about our government.

NRO sucks , yes ( Dan Mclaughlin looks like that guy who spent his middle school years stuffed in a locker — for good reason) but I believe NRO cut ties with French, did they not?

There is a lot of money, wealth, and status to be mined by calling yourself a Republican and then criticizing them at every turn. Look how Michael Steele fraudulently claimed he was a Republican and has made a very comfortable living now. David French, Adam Kinzinger, Steve Schmidt, the list is almost endless of people taking the route of Judas.

Then don't click on the link, Karen.

34 other people besides you have responded so far, and most of them think it's hilarious.

You don't like something, so nobody else should be allowed to see it?

Sounds pretty arrogant and narcissistic.

As if the same thing is not true of Biden and every candidate and President since and including George Washington. NYT folks are so sharp.
