I haven’t yet read those articles but was the amount of iron in the multivitamin and mineral supplements treated as an independent variable? That alone could explain the findings. Or did they lump all vitamin supplements together — worthless study.

I might be the only one who thinks so but I always thought Richard Simmons and 1970s singer Leo Sayer looked like they could be twin brothers.

I don’t know anything about Richard Simmons, except that he came across to me as a homosexual, and I never bothered to find out if he was. It just wasn’t ever important to me. At that time, in the early Eighties, I just got out of the Navy, was going to college and was trying to make my way in the world...I didn’t watch a lot of television, but I was aware of him because he became a figure in popular culture.

I viewed him with mild distaste, but that was largely because I didn’t give him much thought, unless I walked by a television with him or saw him in some interview.

But I will say I found Mr. Rodgers creepy too, but...in the end, there wasn’t anything malicious or wrong with him-by all accounts, he was a kind and gentle man who liked kids.

I saw that earlier. I laughed so hard; tears were streaming down my face.

While most speculated that he was gay (homosexual if you prefer), he never talked about it, whether he was or wasn’t. I don’t think he was ever linked (romantically) with anyone - male or female. I think a lot of his more flamboyant affectations were part of his schtick/act.

Evidently, he converted to Catholicism in his teens (his father was a Methodist, and his mother was Jewish) and he attended a Catholic HS and at one point considered going into the priesthood.

He seemed to be comfortable making fun of himself.

The last time I remember seeing Richard Simmons on TV was right after hurricane Katrina. He was from New Orleans, and he was sadly reflecting on the disaster there. There was a scene of him, kneeling in the cathedral and praying. I think he grew up Catholic. it appears perhaps he either came back to it later in life, or else he was just posing for the interview. But I really don’t think he is the kind of person who would do that.
May the Lord have mercy on his soul, and console his loved ones.

I found Richard annoying but I have no idea how much was the “real” him and how much was act for television.
He did really seem like he wanted to help people though unlike a lot of other people who seem like like conmen / scammers
