I don’t know anything about Richard Simmons, except that he came across to me as a homosexual, and I never bothered to find out if he was. It just wasn’t ever important to me. At that time, in the early Eighties, I just got out of the Navy, was going to college and was trying to make my way in the world...I didn’t watch a lot of television, but I was aware of him because he became a figure in popular culture.

I viewed him with mild distaste, but that was largely because I didn’t give him much thought, unless I walked by a television with him or saw him in some interview.

But I will say I found Mr. Rodgers creepy too, but...in the end, there wasn’t anything malicious or wrong with him-by all accounts, he was a kind and gentle man who liked kids.

I found Richard annoying but I have no idea how much was the “real” him and how much was act for television.
He did really seem like he wanted to help people though unlike a lot of other people who seem like like conmen / scammers
