I saw that earlier. I laughed so hard; tears were streaming down my face.
While most speculated that he was gay (homosexual if you prefer), he never talked about it, whether he was or wasn’t. I don’t think he was ever linked (romantically) with anyone - male or female. I think a lot of his more flamboyant affectations were part of his schtick/act.
Evidently, he converted to Catholicism in his teens (his father was a Methodist, and his mother was Jewish) and he attended a Catholic HS and at one point considered going into the priesthood.
He seemed to be comfortable making fun of himself.
