A disabled alligator nicknamed 'Jawlene' because it is missing half its mouth has been rescued by a resident who found it wandering around a Florida neighborhood.
The gator was spotted on a boat ramp by a local resident who was concerned by its missing upper jaw and called animal rescue for help.
Jerry Flynn, a trapper with the Florida Wildlife Commission, safely captured the alligator and transported it to a new home - Gatorland, a theme park and wildlife reserve in Orlando.
There, the reptile has found a dedicated caretaker, Savannah Boan, a crocodilian enrichment coordinator at the reserve.
Boan, affectionately named it Jawlene, a playful twist on Dolly Parton's classic country song 'Jolene.'

‘Enrichment’ is a common term in animal care and vet technology. It’s considered an important aspect of care for research and zoo animals.

I once saw a street dog in Honduras whose bottom jaw was broken and just hanging down. It was pitiful

Most likely it was another alligator, especially the males are territorial and will drive away the weaker males and some cases kill the really weak males

My dear departed friend, Karen, once told me she was in Mexico and saw a dog in the worst shape she had ever seen an animal. It broke her heart. I don’t watch them too much these days, but Animal Aid Unlimited has a force in India to help animals. Fortunately they only put up on YT the good outcomes. But the animal’s before state will make you want to cry.

I know what you are saying, I'm a cat lover and am addicted to the abused kittens and cats on Youtube. I can only watch the beginning then forward to the end to see the mostly good outcomes.
Seeing how animals are abused or neglected just tears my heart out and wish I had millions of dollars to spend on a giant sanctuary for cats, manned by caring people and veterinarians......
Don't get me wrong, if I thought I could get away with it, I would shoot anyone I caught abusing any animal.
