Glad Farage won his seat. Disappointed now he won’t be Trump’s press secretary.

Yes his plans for the fall changed dramatically when he had a inkling he could win that district.

Now he’s devoting himself to that and building a wider movement over the coming years.

I hope you’ll continue to follow.

Reform gains half a dozen seats, Conservatives lose 250 to give Labour their biggest majority in two centuries.

I do recall Trump telling him that he had a spot in his next administration.

At that point, thoughts of visualizing Nigel Farage dishing it out to MSM scumbags as White House Press Secretary were quite exciting!

Anyhow, the UK needs him. For some reason, British voters thought replacing "Labour Light" (aka Conservatives) with Labour will fix what ails them.

Reform gains half a dozen seats, Conservatives lose 250 to give Labour their biggest majority in two centuries.

Daily Mail reports that Reform came in second in close to 100 races.

I'm guessing that Labor won those seats. And that if Reform's votes had gone Tory, the Tories would have won those seats.

Reform did a good job of punishing the Tories. The resulting Labour victories will be painful, but it had to be done.

It’s a stupid system anyway. Many are pushing for it to change. It could happen .

Are you looking forward to a proportional voting system without electors in the US as well??

There are no absolute “fair” systems. The first past the post system almost always guarantees a majority government. Yes, the Reform party received more than 4 million votes and only 4 seats in the Commons, whereas the Lib Dems garnered roughly 3.5 million votes and received (so far) 71 places in the Parliament.

So, is a proportional system fairer then? Not necessarily. We have lots of examples here in post-war Europe where very small, often extreme parties have made up the balance of power. In Sweden we have had several periods when the former Communists (the Left Party) or the Greens (both in the range of 4 - 8%) have been able to run roughshod over the majority of the voters because they were able to make up the difference between one side of the political spectrum (usually the socialists) and 50.1%.

So, unless you want to be ruled by the socialists on the coasts I suggest you stick with the system you have.

Amazing job by Nigel and his reform movement in such a short period of time. The Reform movement received the third most votes of any party.

I like Nigel Farage...but he just couldn't resist playing Ross Perot in the election. And Britain will suffer as a result.

And got 0.4% of the seats. So he did a bit better than Ross Perot...who got 0.0% of the Electoral Votes.

Labour was going to win easily regardless. Even the SNP got smoked. The Tories failed to deliver after 14 years of running the country. Immigration, inflation, and Covid were the big issues. Sound familiar?

Nigel is building a movement. Comparing it to Perot is apples and oranges. The Tories may be going the way of the Whigs. The people of the UK are demanding a true alternative.

Nigel Farage is King Canute.

The UK’s Deep State made sure that voters weren’t allowed a choice.

And without an audit, the public will never know if the UK really voted to flush faster.

The EU will shortly have its cash cow back.

God help the UK.

Some food for thought here. Read the comments, especially regarding the, to my mind, suspect turnout numbers...

UK: Election Vote Counting Method Needs Changed, Look At Lib Dem’s & Reform. (Also Lowest Turnout Since 1945)

The Tories are like what the Republican Party would be had there been no Trump and no MAGA. In other words, it is a weak, feckless, globalist party that is part of the Establishment - a pretend opposition only. It needs to be blown up. Many Conservatives in Britain were pushing for the Tories to get ZERO seats. They wanted a total wipeout so they could build a true Conservative party from the ground up.

That is very likely what Reform will be. The Tories proved themselves unfit for Britain and unwilling to change. Thus, they must go.

Proportional and first past the post are not the only options. The Brits could give the French system a try where there’s a run-off with the top two contenders if no one gets above 50% of the vote. They could also try ranked voting like some US states do to avoid a run-off.

The system the Brits use right now works just fine in a two-party system, but it can be extremely non-representative in a multi-party system. There are bound to be many areas where the MPs’ views are very different from those of the majority of the voters in their districts and who won with a very small percentage of the vote, and that is not very representative.
