Hundreds of thousands of Americans may be infected with a tick-born illness that causes an allergy to meat without knowing it, according to the Centers for Disease Control Prevention.
Alpha-Gal syndrome, or AGS, is caused by the bite of a lone star tick, which can be identified by a white dot on its back.
The saliva of the tick will cause those who have been infected to have a reaction to red meat, including pork and lamb. They may also have reactions to gelatin or dairy products.
This illness can also infect all mammals, not just humans.
Symptoms of the infection may include stomach pain, vomiting, diarrhea, itchy skin, swelling of lips, face or throat, wheezing or shortness of breath.
Most cases of AGS have been reported across 13 states in the eastern half of the U.S. from Kansas to Delaware.

I know a couple of people who have contracted this from a tick bite. To hear them tell about it, it’s absolutely awful.
I say we take off and nuke the site from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.
Seriously, this could affect my enjoyment of bacon. Nukes are totally an option here.
My cousin got Q fever from inhaled dust this time last summer. It is a tick disease. He died.
Cats get bobcat fever from ticks. They die in about three days. Just another reason to hate summer.
I heard a National Palestine Radio program about this a few months ago. I guess my question is has this always been happening and no one really noticed, or is it something new? It was discovered in 2002. Supposedly they can genetically modify pigs so a person affected can eat them. Wild stuff.

My first thought upon seeing the headline was that Gates and his buddies had it intentionally genetically engineered for their own fun and profit..
My cousin has this. Apparently you recover after ten years but if you do eat meat you get sick and then the reset happens and you have to wait it out again.
I also know of a couple of people so afflicted. Ticks are nasty, and you need to get educated on how to protect yourself.
I knew it, veganism HAS to be a disease!!
