This is technically true. Nothing in orbit orbits indefinitely.

What happens when they all start to run out of food?

"Cannibals in Space" sounds like a good title for a Troma movie.

a duplicate of the thrusters is being tested on the ground at White Sands Testing Ground in New Mexico. It's being put through the same flight profile as Starliner and the components will be dismantled for study.

How will they simulate the violent shaking that takes place during liftoff when the main thrusters are trying to escape Earth's gravitational pull?

If they had leaks on the ground, why did they think that the forces of liftoff wouldn't create new leaks in space?

Because DEI, unicorn farts, and rainbow sprinkles magically makes it not happen.

NASA has spent two decades on this project.

If they go to SpaceX, Musk will have it ready by next Tuesday

They are on an extended vacation.
Starliner had thruster issues last flight too(Unmanned Test Flight)
Who is paying the American Tax Payer for their extended hotel accommodations? Boeing?

space agency officials gave the public assurances that the ..., the spacecraft is perfectly fine

I really hate when people lie so blatantly. A perfectly fine craft would be back here by now, instead of being a month overdue.

So when they get a Dragon ready, they can retrieve an unmanned Starliner remotely?

BUt NASA would never call Musk....Biden and his fascist crew detest Musk....he has exposed their nefarious dealings at everey turn and kept DEI out of Space X, whichi the Biden crowd detest.

Bioeing OTOH has succumbed to DEI, and therefore has quality probloems and contioning glitches, they hire by race not by expertise.

So Bioeing is in decline while MUsk is heaven bound. I bet thise astronauts will still be up there on NOvember 5th. After, the Musk solution will be employed.

There are plenty of other vehicles that could bring them home. The Russians (who have previously carried US astronauts) and Space X.

But going that way would put the future diversity trip to the moon in question.

Now where have we heard that one before, eh?

Given what happened with a couple of space shuttles and the astronauts who crewed them, how do we know that this crew is refusing to return unless Musk does it...?

So how many changes of underwear is one supposed to pack for a 5-day trip to the ISS?

"Nothing in orbit orbits indefinitely."

I guess that could be said about man-made objects orbiting earth, but what about planets orbiting the sun? Their orbits do not decay do they? Maybe an expert in astrophysics can enlighten me.

Bunch of leaking thrusters. I wouldn’t want to ride back in it. I also wouldn’t want to hitch a ride with china or russia but that’s probably what fedgov/nasa would prefer to keep it more low key and out of the US news and off of X as much as possible.

Hey, if you are going to be indefinitely “ not stranded” the ISS is the place to be.

Thinking being non stranded on the ISS may be better than becoming un stranded in their new ship

Ground control to Major Tom ………. Check ignition, count down ….. engines on!

The moon moves away a couple of inches every year. The Earth does the same with the sun.

I’ll be watching Boeings stock opening this morning. I’m betting a 10% drop or more at the opening bell.
