I'm referring to SPAM!
Me, when I'm in the local Grocery Outlet, I'll pick up a couple cans of it every now and then. No, I don't eat it regularly (who does?) but being it has a 2-3 years shelf life, why not?
Every now and then, I get an urge for a SPAM sandwich and/or some SPAM and eggs for breakfast. Yes, it's a bit on the salty side but boiling it takes a lot of the salt/sodium out of it.
Thoughts?????
Had it growing up, not frequently, plus along for camping trips. Last had some a couple years ago, didn’t seem the same as I remembered. Have some in my pantry among a year’s supply of food.
I have a friend who owns a chain of small restaurants in Hawaii. His most popular dish by far has spam in it. He buys it by the pallet and says he just cant get enough to keep his restaurants fully stocked. So, it is very popular.
is it kosher?
SPAM sickens me.
Why eat that crap when you can have bone in spiral ham?
Your opinion....I respect it.
Cool story.
IMO, SPAM has endless potentials. I even think SPAM is used in the Sushi business.
Take a block of spam and blend it up...Yummy chip dip!
Austin, TX had (may still have) a festival for SPAM called SPAM-O-RAMA. Folks create a variety of dishes featuring SPAM and compete to be the best. Folks have a lot of fun but take making great dishes seriously.
In Hawaii it’s a go to food.

Spam...brings back memories of Scout’s and camping trips. Beef stew in the can as well. Oh and corn beef hash in the can.
[is it kosher?]
Thanks to a policy of mandatory conscription, the Jewish state, in effect, had been force-feeding Loof — a colloquially corrupt short form of “meatloaf” — to its citizens since the nation’s founding. The resulting trauma alluded to in Gil Marks’ “Encyclopedia of Jewish Food” is understandable: “Many Israeli soldiers insist that Loof uses all the parts of the cow that the hot dog manufacturers will not accept, but no one outside of the manufacturer and the kosher supervisors actually know what is inside.”
Loof anecdotes are ubiquitous and diverse: There’s the one about a current 20-year-old Israeli soldier who was handed a can of meat dated 1988. “It wasn’t bad,” the soldier said. “It just felt weird eating something that was older than me.”]
hmmmm... good recon, thanks...
however, i think i would probably prefer canned salmon if i could get it...
Spushi
There is turkey Spam, but not certified kosher.
I like mine boiled. Boiled until it evaporates. 🙂
I like it, but when I first saw the thread, I thought it was referring to e mail spam.

But for those not sticklers for kosher certification while being averse to pork, there is Turkey Spam. And Middle Eastern stores have halal beef luncheon loaf.
Only canned meat I will eat now is deviled ham. But I prefer to make my own.
