Plus a 20-percent tip and we are talking $87 for a dinner for three with no desserts!
Inflation is real.
To: ifinnegan
Huh? That should have been at least $20-25 less.
Wow.

I guessed $75. Pretty close! Yeah man, prices everywhere have skyrocketed. Let’s Go Brandon!

I think in 1990, $14 would have covered it, with a nice tip.

My husband and I eat at Denny’s about once a month: appetizer, two dinners, and two drinks runs about $50 before the tip.
I’m in Texas. Your mileage may vary.

The food cost you $35.00...the California regs./SDI/minimum wage cost you the rest.

This is happening everywhere. I know people complain or excuse depending on their bias as good that people cut back on fast food, but it is also these sit-down restaurants which are becoming too expensive for families.
Put these in terms of the local minimum wage, maybe $7.50 or even $15. That's as many as 10 hours of work for that simple family meal.

Restaurants are for people with money to blow. I haven’t been to ANY restaurant in probably 1.5 years because the last time I went I seriously felt I had been robbed.

I would have guessed $55 but then I saw you are in California so I would have said $120. You got a real bargain at $72. :-P

Had a family get-together a few weeks ago — 4 of us — at a local restaurant.
Total bill for modest meals was just over $100.
I had a burger, fries, salad and drink — roughly $25.
[I could have fixed a burger, fries, salad, drink AND dessert at home for under $5.00.]
That is why I only eat out on special occasions.

Shame on you for eating at Denny's! That's not food. Chickfila would have had similar items, better tasting and you would have gotten away under $50. Hey, it's your money and stomach.
