Highs soaring toward the middle 90s will spread from the southern Great Lakes and Ohio Valley into the Northeast during the first half of this week. This heat will persist through the end of the week in many of these same areas.
Widespread dโaily record highs will be set into Saturday. A few cities that could set new records at times through Saturday include Detroit, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Hartford and Burlington.
Dew points will also increase, meaning it will feel sticky and humid. When the humidity is added to the hotter-than-average temperatures, feels-like temperatures will be even higher. In some areas that means the heat index will rise into the upper 90s or lower 100s.

What cracks me up is the last time they talked about breaking a heat record in Central Texas, the record being broken was set in the early 1900s.
It’s just weather and it changes all the time but Idiots don’t know that
Northern North Dakota here. Currently 51*, rest of week forecast 60’s - 70’s.
I’m good with that.
Oh noes!!!!! What will happen when summer gets here? On Thursday. ๐ต
36 in Reno this morning. But warming up once we send you the cool air. You’re welcome. ๐๐
For most places, review the summer of 1936.
They never say, “Oh my we’re having NORMAL WEATHER “ LOL
Exactly right, you beat me to it. As I understand it, the winter of 35/36 also had extreme cold across the Midwest.
The only temperature “records” that will be broken are the “real-feel” bullshit numbers they’ve been pushing down our throats for 2 decades.
When Texas had snow a few years back, I just laughed. I still feel guilty...
Sure you do.
Seriously, we do get snow on occasion. Not every year, but we weather through it. More ice than snow.
OMG, it’s Summer!
Already the forecasts this week are dropping, mostly below official “heat wave” level, in the Northeast.
Predicted high for the week in Southern Connecticut is 91. Record high for the date (6/20) is 99. Oh Noe! Get out your wallet and buy some EVs and windmills or else we will all die.
IMHO, ice is worse than snow. Snow is fun and pretty. Ice is not fun, and rarely pretty.
I'm in the "Northeast". Looking at the 14 day forecast, the highest high I see for my town is 89 degrees.
LOL!
Around here, also in the NE, it will stay in the mid-90’s, and I’m lovin’ it.
