Study reveals nearly half of US EV drivers want to return to ICE cars and nearly one-third, globally. The media is baffled.
Amazing! Everyone you know drives an EV!
” My daughter ordered the same Tesla model about 2 years ago, and she asked for her money back after reading all about that Tesla model.”
Did you give her money back?
“The used price for a Model 3 is between $21,000 and $23,000, and that’s for a one-year old car. “
Auto Trader sorted by lowest price: 2021 $25k
Did you figure in maintenance and engine overhaul?
The Auto Trader price is snot the final price that people will pay for a used EV, if it’s sold at all.
“So, she hardly needs my money to help her buy a vehicle.”
So, who did she ask?
“The Auto Trader price is snot the final price that people will pay for a used EV, if it’s sold at all.”
KBB private party sale for base 2003 Model 3 is $27,700 - $31,000.
“Then, when the battery goes out on an EV, the cost can be more than the total cost of replacing the engine and transmission of an ICE car at the same time.”
Engine and transmission replacement can run more than $15,000.
If you factor savings in fuel and maintenance costs the EV comes out ahead.
“That’s an ad; not the final ‘sold price’. Try better.”
Not an ad. Why do you always misrepresent?
The Kelley Blue Book—and its equally popular website—is one of the most trusted guides for automobile pricing, used by those who are buying or selling cars.
Kelley assesses a wide array of different values to both used and new vehicles. For used vehicles some of them include: Trade-in value, typical listing price, fair purchasing price (CPO), and private party.
Kelley determines Blue Book values by analyzing pricing information from real-world used car prices, as well as industry developments, economic conditions, and location.
“Another dopey retort. \”
You are the one that brought it up? Was it just another item you made up?
” Face it, an EV is not much more than a huge and costly battery on wheels.”
FP&L has a program where you pay ZERO to charge your EV off-peak!
That alone could save a commuter more than $4k a year.
I gave up on Kelley Blue Book when I was looking for used cares, and their prices never matched what I could get for a new vehicle of the same make and model. I actually found new vehicles for the same price quoted for a used car by Kelley. I ended up buying a new Ford Escape for the price that Kelley quoted on the same car used a year. I’ve since never looked on Kelley again.
“Still a lot less than replacing an EV battery.”
Not much difference at all considering the battery lasts longer
“People have given up on their EVs when faced with the cost of replacing an EV battery, which in some cases have been higher priced than the original cost of the entire vehicle.”
‘People’ is plural. Please cite data to support your post.
Whatever. You have more tales than Jacob and Wilhelm.
“To her, owning a Tesla was going to be a status symbol, but she decided that she doesn’t need a status symbol.”
So now she wants her money back because she changed her mind.
Life doesn’t work that way.
