So what are those things on the command module the red arrows are pointing to?
Given its Helium, it’s a whole lot better than Hydrogen. And if it were Hydrogen, there’s no way they’d allow them near the ISS.
Aware, I am.
those are the spacecraft thrusters, HE is not used on those
the HE leaks are from the service module
But the original question was “what’s toxic? Why do we care in space if it’s toxic?”
If the spacecraft lands, you have toxic unburned hydrazine for the spacecraft thrusters (not the service module thrusters). Right? And that is potentially toxic to ground crews.
Do what they gave always done even with the shuttle have a hasmat crew
Checking to make sure all the toxic gas has been vented.
Boeing’s latest potential scandal is out of this world - literally.
Its Starliner spacecraft - which carried two NASA astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS) last week - is unable to undock after several faults were found on the ship.
Teams have discovered five different leaks in the craft’s propulsion system which would navigate the craft through space as it returns to Earth.
The astronauts were set to return on June 14, but that has been delayed until June 22 while Boeing and NASA scramble to fix issues, leaving the astronauts stranded until then.
Now, experts have said that NASA could be forced to launch a rescue mission that would be a highly embarrassing blow for the embattled Boeing which is dealing with spate of issues plaguing its commercial jets.

You can Check Out anytime you like... But can Never leave...
Space is hard. Failure in space is way harder.
Maybe Boeing needs to look into replacing the vendor that supplies them with helium fittings and/or O-rings. The stuff they’re using now is junk.
