They have been doing that in my college town for years.

This is news?

I heard many years ago that recycling facilities don’t care about paper, plastic and glass. They are there to sort through and find precious metals and electronics or other items that may have rare earth metals. It’s a sorting facility fishing for goodies.

In some place where the law doesn’t require materials like plastic and glass to be recycled, the “recycling” facility just passes it along to the land fill.

My coworker talked to one of the men who picks up our trash.

He said that the waste company is required to put out bins for trash, greens, and recycling, but that they are not required to process them separately.

In other word, at least the trash and recycling go in the same truck.

Green = $$$

Tony Soprano was in "waste management" also.

I must say, that’s a major relief to me.

I always thought we purchased contracts with the Communist Chinese, who put our recyclables on barges, tow it out to the middle of the ocean, and just dump it.

Recycling is not profitable

I have watched both my bins being put in a single refuse truck a number of times.

Recycling is actually only done when it is profitable,

They have even sent a letter out stating so before….yet we are still required to separate the trash from recycling and they still charge us for it either way.

I have personally witnessed garbage trucks and recycling trucks dumping their loads into the same compacting pit at the local transfer station.

Less than 5% of plastic recyclables are actually recycled and the rest goes to landfills.. that’s known for years.

The city gave us big wheeled recycle bins. The only thing I’ve ever used it for is for leaves in the fall.

Recycling is a scam perpetrated on the gullible. Yea, even gullible conservatives.

We’ve known for a real long time that it all went to the same place.

I would like to know how much treated drinking water is used because of rinsing everything before it goes to the landfills or even if it gets recycled.

The plastic recycling hoax was debunked years ago.

There are documentaries of villages in China inundated with plastic the locals would get pennies to sort through. This was back before China stopped needing to use recycled materials - they now have enough to mine/produce their own. They’d have to truck water in because the groundwater was so contaminated.

There’s still big bucks being paid to collect recyclables, but it’s a scam.

Now it’s just dumped on islands throughout the Pacific where in washes away, contributing to the microplastics scourge.

Thank you for referencing that article Red Badger.

"This man put a GPS tracker in his recycling. Here’s where it ended up."

I agree with recycling in principle, but at this point in time it is evidently no more of a science than EV's are.

Hardly any plastics can be truly recycled, and producers have known for decades: Report (2.15.24)

I understand that there is a tipping point in price of oil that makes recycling uneconomical.

Is recycling just another front-end for unaccountable government spending, aka taxpayer dollars being used to keep elite Democrats and RINOs in power?

And this is news? We’ve been told for years it all goes into the landfill. The recycling is virtue signaling for the left wing extremists.

According to Michael Schellenberger 90% of recycled materials isn't recycled. So coming from an environmentalist, he says if you want to save the planet, quit recycling. He's got a great Tedtalk too -

Youtube link

One of his best quotes: "Now that we know renewables can't save the planet are we going to keep letting them destroy it?"
